On days like these pandemics, you, like me, may have had difficulty reciting a prayer.
In those days, before I prayed, I asked the Holy Ghost to teach me to pray, called the Lord to answer my prayers, and I prayed to Jesus, the Good Shepherd, to intercede for his saints in his tender mercy. I had a hard time expressing myself in prayer.
- There are so many conversations during the day.
- Some lament.
- Others confused.
- Others express fear and anxiety.
- Some are really terrified and still have disbelievers who idolize science as if it were the sovereign to cure all the evils of the pandemic.
- From respiratory diseases to emotional crises.
- Even reaching spiritual weaknesses.
In the midst of the great global schizophrenic crisis, we have our own particular crises: an old depression that worsens, a newly discovered malignancy, a lost job, a relative with a terminal illness and all we need is to stand before the throne of God’s Grace and pour out our hearts and reason with the Almighty all the clouds of thoughts that touched us during the day.
How did you pray to the eternal God?What kind of instruction did you ask intimately when you whispered to the wonderful counselor?
I confess that after the intensity of the days, in my moment of prayer, several times, I only managed to kneel with my hands together, my eyes closed waiting for a breath of the Spirit in my mind.
Therefore, when prayer does not come to my mind, or my mouth can utter a word, I praise. I’m singing a panegyric, more and more. Then I open my Bible to the psalms, there are the words that I have sought in my heart and which I have not found, there are the words that have expressed the torn hearts of the Psalmists. he is as old as the fathers of mankind, Adam and Eve.
Psalms give us the opportunity to cry in body, soul, and heart; I make the words of the Psalmists my prayer.
Praying with the Psalms gives me the depth of my humanity, but it also shows me the magnitude of the agony of all fallen humanity, we have all been captured, torn apart by the same anguish, separated from God, fallen, repentant with our sorrows. , weaknesses, disappointments and doubts.
Humanity’s mourning refines hearts, it produces sorrow in consciences. Yes, it is true that many, many are insensitive, and some, cruel, take advantage of the pain of others.
But we are still in the psalms and they can enrich our prayer, in them we find words to express our confused and frustrated affections.
Praying psalms heals us from spiritual stupidity
It is in the Word of God that we can know his attributes, his greatness and majesty, his sovereignty and mercy, his complacency and longevity, his holiness and his righteousness. Then, with a great heart, our prayer turns from glory to glory, becoming a pleasant aroma that ascends to the throne of our Lord in thanksgiving, prayers of contentment, satisfaction and worship.
God is with us, God is for us, He has chosen us, He has loved us since the death of his only Son and by his blood he has reconciled us, he has brought us to the table of the king’s banquet. Oh! This Lord, who created heaven and earth, is worthy of our honor, glory, and praise and worship; He can open his mouth to pray with clamor, fervently, and worship Him as God and Lord of our eternal souls.
He who dwells in the hiding place of the Most High and rests in the shadow of the Almighty says to the Lord: My refuge and my strength, my God, whom I trust; you won’t be afraid of night terror or arrow. that flies during the day, neither of the wound that extends into darkness, nor of the death that burns at noon. For you clung to me with love, I will deliver thee; I’ll keep you safe because you know my name. He will call me and I will answer him; In his anguish I will be with him, deliver him, and glorify him; I will satisfy you with longevity and show you my salvation.
(Psalm 91. 1-2, 5-6, 14-16)
