Joel Beeke speaks of the importance of the Work of the Spirit for the life of our Lord, for our salvation, for the balance of the Church, and for our sanctification.
The work of the Spirit is absolutely essential for every Christian, we will see it in four different ways:
- Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
- The Spirit takes Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted.
- Jesus performed miracles through Espíritu.
- La resurrection occurs by the power of the Spirit; throughout Christ’s ministry.
- We see the action of the Spirit; And today.
- Christ works in his church through his Spirit; therefore.
- We must live by the same Spirit.
Without the action of the Spirit, no one will be saved. The Spirit reveals God’s truth to us and probes our hearts. No one can know God but through the Spirit of God. We cannot understand the Word of God and apply it to our souls without the Spirit.
Only the work of the Spirit can make the people of the Trinity personal; without the work of the Spirit, the Father and the Son would seem distant to us; through his Word, the Spirit gives tangible realities to connect with the Father and The Son leads us to communion with the Trinity and the three divine peoples become intimate with us. The interior of the Father and the Son in the believer is done by the Spirit.
There is always a danger of gravitating toward a person in the Godhead, but the Bible focuses on all three. Even if the work of the Spirit points to Christ, the Spirit is not the God forgotten in the New Testament.
If we emphasize only the sovereign choice of the Father and forget the redemption of the Son and the application of the Spirit, we can fall into the error of spiritual passivity and so-called hypercalvinism.
On the other hand, if we preach only Christ and say that all a person has to do is believe in Christ, without insisting on what faith does through the work of the Spirit, we will be inclined to lead the church to a cheap and easy grace. Faith.
However, if we insist only on the work of the Spirit, we can fall into legalism or mysticism. We will be focused on experience and our faith will seek experiences instead of the Savior, so our experiences will turn away from biblical truth.
In true biblical preaching, each person’s work in the Trinity is balanced: the sovereign choice of the Father, the redeeming grace of Christ, and the regenerative work of the Spirit.
We do not know how to pray, but the Spirit intercedes for us with unspeakable groans (Rom 8). In every prayer, there is the mystery of the Spirit praying with us, which helps us. Without the Spirit, we could never really pray. We can even set sail for our ships, but without the wind of the Spirit we will not go anywhere.
Filled with the Spirit, we resist the works of the flesh (Eph 5, Gal 5). If we want to bear fruit for Christ, we must bear the fruit of the Spirit. The characteristics of the fruit of the Spirit are not natural to us. is the Spirit that bears fruit in us.
The Spirit is the sword of our war. Abba Father ?. You are weak, take the sword of the Spirit, go to 2 Timothy 1. 7, and see that “God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and moderation. “Do not be afraid to persevere, take the sword of the Spirit, go to Jd 24 and see that God is powerful to prevent you from stumbling and offer you a joy, unspotted before his glory?.
Our subjective experience through the objective work of the Spirit of Christ gives us the ability to trust in God.
Over the years, the constant work of the Spirit gives us the security of salvation; keeps us in love with the Savior and will not allow us to get perished.
There is no step we can take alone, I could do nothing for the glory of God, but through the Spirit we can diminish so that Christ can grow.
“The primary purpose of the human being is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. (Westminster Catechism). The only way to have joy in this life is to live by what God has created for us, to live for His glory.
