Carolyn McCulley: Well, I’ll try to sum up the story
I grew up at a time when second-wave feminism was very popular in America. So it was something that was part of the culture. I grew up thinking things were like that. My mother took me to mass every day, but she had no ears to hear the gospel. So I didn’t become a Christian until I was almost 30 on a trip to South Africa.
In the meantime, I had an experience in a youth ministry where the pastor was harassing young women. Then I denounced him, caused controversy in the church, and thought, “It’s over. “
In my opinion, I had seen everything in Christianity, from Catholicism to a form of non-biblical Pentecostalism, and I was fed up, so I went to college, started getting involved in women’s studies and they gave me the “answer”. , “The problem is men. The problem is the system. The problem is patriarchy, and I believed it.
I was angry, but I actually had a good life, I had no reason to be angry. Only it was an obstacle when you wanted to date a man while you’re angry and you keep saying that’s the problem. They end up not wanting to ask you out. I didn’t connect the points, anyway?
I became a Christian at the age of 30, and when I went to a church that taught the Bible and believed in the Bible, it was a profound revelation and I began to have to reconcile two different world visions.
