Jia Jiang feared much of the rejection his life consumed, he decided to face his fear with an experience, for a hundred consecutive days, he chose to be rejected differently every day.
He asked a stranger for $100.
He asked another stranger to let him plant a flower in his garden
He ordered a burger top-up (rather than a soda top-up) at a restaurant.
He’s got no, no and no.
But he soon learned something: the more rejected he was, the more he realized that rejection was not as serious as he feared. In each meeting, he also learned more about people and about himself.
One day, he asked a lady of Krispy Kreme to make a colorful donut in the form of Olympic rings. Remarkably, she said, “Why not?” The video of his creation went viral, reaching more than five million online reproductions, Jia’s experience soon caused a sensation in him, prompting him to talk to TED and write a book about his experience, in fact, his experience brought him such fame that he had to start rejecting course applications for a while.
Nobody likes rejection. But as Jia has learned, it’s not as bad as we thought.
After teaching evangelism for more than thirty years, I observed two main fears that prevented believers from sharing Jesus with others. The first is the fear of rejection.
I wish I could tell you how to share Christ so that no one would reject you, but that would not be realistic. The gospel is an offense to many who perish. We want to share Christ in the most attractive way possible. How can we do that, overcome this fear?
Understand the role of rejection. Rejection comes with being a disciple of Christ, Jesus was rejected by his own people. A true prophet in Israel faced the rejection of his message. Jesus told us that we are blessed when people insult us (Mt 5:11). A Christianity focused on comfort and blessing will not force believers to value the rejection of the gospel. , but a deep love for Christ will lead us to face adversity by name.
We need to see rejection less as an obstacle than as an opportunity to grow. Rejection can really be vital to our discipleship. Over time, we can learn to be rejected, to improve gospel communication, and to accept rejection more and more as part of the Suite of the Way of Christ.
Most of us want to control the things around us, we set standards for small groups, for collective worship, etc. , but when we talk to a disbeliever of Jesus, we don’t really know what the conversation will be like. control and trust in the Holy Ghost to guide us, and sometimes we don’t feel comfortable doing so. That is why sharing Christ offers a great way to grow spiritually as we learn to trust in the power of the gospel and the work of the Church. Spirit.
We must replace our fear with greater fear. There is an appropriate place for fear in the life of the Christian, but he must address our wonderful God. The Fear of the Lord is the principle of wisdom (Proverbs 1. 7). Paul said that we should all appear before the court of Christ’s judgment; Thus, knowing God’s fear, we persuade people (2 Corinthians 5:10-11). We must replace our fear of people with an appropriate fear of God.
The second fear is the fear of failure. You probably know this fear, which can sometimes look like this:?What if they ask a question I can’t answer?Don’t I want to let the Lord or someone else down?
Fear of failure sometimes exists because we don’t understand our task well. We are called to fidelity to the gospel, not to win for Christ all the people with whom we share the gospel. Our Lord Jesus Christ did not win over all the people with whom He shared the gospel. . We’re ambassadors. Ambassadors do not speak under their own authority, but under the authority of another. Don’t we need to be spectacular or awesome? In our testimony, because Jesus is the only glorious one. Our success in testifying is not based on the response of the person with whom we share the gospel. Our obedience pleases our Father, even when people do not attain faith.
Nowhere in the scriptures do the scriptures tell us that “a man (or woman) must bear an effective testimony of the Bible’s answers. “Although we want to answer the questions as faithfully as possible, our task is to give a reason for the hope in us (1Pedro 3. 15). Paul said that the gospel, not our answers, is God’s power for salvation (Rom. 1:16).
This leads me to a practical solution to this fear: to equip myself with testimonies. Giving believers basic training on how to share the gospel with others helps build trust when we testify. Believers who sincerely desire to serve Christ? And in my experience, do they? You want some more? You will find this training useful. I literally get an email or two a day from someone who tells me about my recent book?Share Jesus without panicking? He gave them the confidence to share Christ. Many reports come from introverts who have overcome their fears with a simple training and encouragement. it allows people to learn through role-playing and the field experience helps them see that they can evangelize others. If you are a pastor, I recommend that you regularly give your people instructions and examples on how to share Christ with others.
God created you for his glory to promote his gospel with the gifts, talents, and abilities He gave you. You can face your fears and share Christ for the glory of God and for your own good.
