Who’s God

Moses said to the Lord, “Am I begging you to show me your glory?”(Exodus 33. 18). In fact, he asked, “Who are you, God?” God answered with these words, “I will pass all my goodness before you and proclaim unto you the name of the LORD; Will I feel sorry for anyone who has mercy and will have compassion on those who have compassion?(Verse 19). ) He promised to reveal himself.

But no man can see God and live. Is it too much for a man? And for the sinner, in particular. God commanded him to rise on the rock and said, “When my glory passes, I will put you in a crevice of the rock and with my hand I will cover you until it has passed. “You’ll see me from behind, but won’t you see my face?(vv. 22-23) Moses did the right thing by asking God who he is, instead of telling God who he would like him to be. God was partially revealed to Mose. He passed, protected him with his own hand, and proclaimed his own name. Did that mean much more than just pronouncing the name Yahweh?Even in our Portuguese translations? For Moses to hear. its nature:

  • ? And as the Lord passed before him.
  • He cried.
  • Eternal.
  • A compassionate.
  • Merciful.
  • Persevering Eternal God.
  • Great in mercy and faithfulness; Who keeps mercy for a thousand generations.
  • Who forgives wickedness.
  • Transgression and sin.
  • Although he does not exonerate the culprit.
  • And visits the wickedness of the fathers in their children and children.
  • Until the third and fourth generation?(34.
  • 6 -7).

SIR, SIR? There, God revealed Himself to Moses by his personal name, Yahweh, he is the great I Suis, the self-existing and immutable God, for whom all things exist, and is merciful, merciful, patient, full of goodness and truth.

Forgiveness is so important that it is expressed in three similar terms: “forgive iniquity, transgression, and sin. “It is full of forgiveness and mercy. But our God, according to his self-relaxation, is also just. Our text says it will not simply absolve the culprit. It would be contrary to its nature simply to ignore sin. Justice must be done for who God is, God must be faithful to who he is. But how can he be merciful and right at the same time? How can you act in a way that supports these two attributes? If it shows only mercy, justice is annulled; if only justice is satisfied, there is no mercy.

The answer is the incarnation and the cross. The Father, being merciful and righteous, sent the Son to represent all those the Father had given him (John 17:18-23; Ephesians 5: 25-32). While still being God, the Son took on a human nature. , and having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, he lived perfectly under the law of God, keeping the law that Adam violated. He went voluntarily to the cross, taking his elelected, as his federal leader (representative), to be one with him, and take our sin. Then he endured the Father’s wrath by paying off the debt we cannot repay.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “He who did not know sin made him sinful for us, that in him we may be made righteousness unto God. By making us one with Jesus, the Father can see his wrath pouring out upon the Son. Justice has been served and our guilt has been ruled out. On the cross of Jesus, we find both the wonderful mercy and the perfect righteousness of God.

Let’s go back to Mose, I knew that no man could see God and live, but God said that as long as his glory went, he would put Moses in a crack in the rock and cover the prophet with his hand. this figure well, saying, “The Lord is my rock, my citadel, my liberator; my God, my rock on which I shelter; my shield, the strength of my salvation, my strength?”(Psalm 18. 2). And Paul points out that the Rock of our salvation is Jesus (1 Corinthians 10:1-4). Our God does for those who trust in Christ what He did for Moses. He hides us in the crevice of the Rocher, he hides us in Jesus. In Christ, our sins are forgiven. In this, we are saved from the wrath of God. In Him we know both justice and mercy.
