When churches languish, they mock God

If you saw a garden covered in weeds, would you plant beautiful lilies in the middle? If you couldn’t hear the TV news because your radio was too loud, would you turn on the TV even more?It is for this and other reasons why Bobby Jamieson states that “Revitalizing churches is a biblical responsibility” [link to the full article]. In the excerpt below, he lists a reason to revitalize the churches: the honor of God.

God’s people bear the name of God

  • Another motivation that Scripture gives us for the reform and revitalization of churches is that God’s people bear the name of God; Christians are baptized in the name of the Father.
  • Son and holy spirit (Mt 28:19).
  • Christians are the temple of the In the last days.
  • The personification of the place where God made himself a name to live (1 Kings 8.
  • 17.
  • 19).
  • The Church is the people who were called after the Lord.
  • Whom she created for her glory.
  • Whom she formed and created (It is 43:7).

Also, is God jealous for the glory of his name (Isaiah 48: 9-11)? And so do we.

But, as we have said, when churches languish in sin, division, and nominalism, the name of God becomes mocked in the square; such churches defame the name of God rather than adorn and magnify it.

A sinful and decadent church is like a lighthouse with a broken lamp and a reflector; Instead of reflecting the light of God’s glory miles in advance, calling sinners to the safe haven of God’s mercy, does such a church make the night as dark as it was?before, or even more. It is like a radio station whose signal has been hijacked: no matter what it admits to believing, such a church spreads lies about God, rather than the truth.

So a concern for the name of God, which he put upon his people, and what about his corporate meetings in a particular sense (Mt 18:20)?It should prompt us to reform and revitalize the churches, as Mark Dever has said. Many times, the revitalization of churches is like paying one and two for the kingdom. You bear a bad testimony and instead bear a good testimony.
