What is this Christmas thing? (free eBook)

There were a few days to go until Christmas and Tom had exhausted the search for a gift for Sara, but eventually thought he had found it. Of all the places, he found it in the attic. I didn’t know exactly what it was, but it was beautiful and Tom thought it would look great on the shelf above the fireplace. It looked like it was bronze, but it was only a few centimetres tall and certainly needed to be polished. He took it, put it in his pocket and slipped down stairs.

Later that night, while Sara was packing presents in the other room, he polished it silently until it got bright. Taking a special package, he also packed his gift, added a bow, put a card on which he wrote Sara’s name and placed it. under the Christmas tree, ready for Christmas morning.

  • Christmas morning arrived and they exchanged gifts.
  • Sara was always happy to receive Christmas gifts and loved this one in a special way.
  • Good looking!? and ‘glued’ were some of the words that came out of his mouth.
  • But in the end he said the same thing about almost every gift he had received that morning.
  • Tom: “But what is it?”.

Prepared for the question, Tom replied, “I thought you were going to ask that. I don’t know what it is. I think it’s part of an old ornament, a pipe, a tool or something, but I thought it would look really great on the shelf above the fireplace.

“But what’s the matter, Tom?

Again, Tom paused, a little irritated.

Is it?’ Christmas thing, ” he said hastily. “Let’s just say it’s one thing. “
