MARTIN LUTHER
What does it mean to have a god? Or rather, what is the god of the person?Answer: everything we seek good in and take refuge in our needs is what “god” means. (?) Many people imagine owning God and everything they need, as long as they have money and property (?) Proof of this statement comes when people are arrogant, protected, and proud of these goods, but they despair when something is missing. or gets lost. I repeat, having a god means having something that a person’s heart depends on completely.
Ask and examine your own heart, and you will discover whether he understands God or not. Is it in your heart to expect only good things from God, especially when you are experiencing problems or needs?Besides, does your heart give up and give up everything?that it’s not God’s? Therefore, you have the only true God, but on the other hand, is your heart bound and dependent on other things, hoping to receive more blessings and help than from God?work, instead of running towards God, do you run away from him? Then you have another god, a false god, an idol.

The catechism’s last response showed us that sin is to reject, ignore, and rebel against God, not treat God as God, and not give him the honor he is owed. In the Bible, the most common way to describe how human beings do this through the sin of idolatry. Idolatry is loving something other than Jesus Christ. Ailmentism is about treating everything that is more important than Jesus Christ in our lives, for our happiness, for our safety and hope, or for ourselves. The reason why it is so important to understand the sin of idolatry is that it can grow in an area of life for a long time, reach the deepest, and encompass much of it, even before they clearly see that they represent violations of Gods’ laws.
If, for example, wealth and their career have become too important to us, they have become our idols and that forces us to work too hard to exhaustion, which can lead us to be ruthless. This can block the development of a loving heart and the fruit of the Spirit, which can make relationships more fragile. This can affect family relationships and affect friendships. All these things may have happened for a long time, before we realize a lie, a mistake, or adultery, because idolatry leads to all these things.
It is important to understand this: sin not only does bad things, it is to make good things primordial, because it ruins the soul, destroys the community, and dishonours God.
God the Creator, forgive us for worshipping the things you created. No person or thing should be our hope or trust. Only you are self-existing and all enough, that you are our everything in everything!Amen.
