Let us first resolve in our minds that the future happiness of the saved is eternal. If we don’t understand this, it will never end: it will never end, it will never age, it will never rot, it will never die. “To your right, are there delicacies in perpetuity?” (Salt 16,1). Once in paradise, God’s saints will never leave. Inheritance is “incorruptible, uncontaminated and cannot be dry, stored in heaven for you. “Will you get the incorruptible crown of glory? (1Pe 1. 4; 5. 4). Your war is over; The battle is over; your work is done. We won’t be hungry or thirsty anymore. We will continue to travel to an “eternal weight of glory”, to the house that will never be destroyed, an encounter without leaving, a family reunion without separation, a day without night. Faith will be devoured by sight; and hope, for certainty. We will see how we look, and we will know how we are known, and “we will be with the Lord forever. “Is it surprising that the Apostle Paul adds, “So comfort one another with these words?(1Q 4. 17-18).

The catechism’s response tells us two things about the glorious future that the gospel assures us is coming.
First, we will always be satisfied with God; being a triumphant God in himself, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit glorify themselves, joke, worship each other, love each other; for this reason, God himself has infinite joy. . We were created to share this joy. We were created to glorify and partake of this glory, but none of us, not even today’s strongest Christians, have experienced what this joy is: perfect, cosmic, infinite, that grows endlessly, because we love all other things. we will be free from sin, and then we will know and experience this glory and joy, and enjoy it forever.
Secondly, we will enjoy it forever in the new city of Jerusalem, in the new heavens, and in a new land; we will experience this cosmic joy, not in a purely immaterial state, as we will be in a restored material creation. bodies resurrected as the body of Jesus’ physical bodies. This means that, according to Christianity, body and soul, the physical and the spiritual, they will be together in perfect harmony forever; no other religion sees it that way; we will not float like disembodied spirits, but we will dance. Walk. We will kiss We will eat and drink in the kingdom of God, this means that all our deepest desires will be fulfilled, all the deepest pains will be erased.
What could be better than that? That’s what we’re going to live for, no less.
Eternal God, we expect the fulness of your kingdom. We look forward to the day when every tear is dry. We moan for the day when we no longer have to fight the flesh. May the sure hope of eternal life give us the courage to face the trials of this life!Amen, come, Lord Jesus!
