Well, it’s May and we have another day to write this month. Many topics went through my mind, but as I frantically thought and searched, new ideas emerged, and I thought it would be good to talk about books that could make us grow in the study of God’s Word.
We have already talked about certain spiritual disciplines that we must pursue to improve our Christian life: we start with an annual reading of the Bible, we talk about meditation and women’s discipleship.
- Does the narrow door (Lk 13.
- 24) still remind me of the radical regimes to stay?Slim? And move on to the other side.
- Which also reminds me that the kingdom of God is conquered with effort (Lk 16:16).
- Which still makes me think about the need to be diligent and abandon laziness (Pr 13:4).
Sheep, move, put this sweetness aside and move on to another spiritual exercise.
More than the annual reading of the Bible, and simply not said pejoratively to diminish the importance of this discipline, there is a need for vertical reading, one by which we deepen knowledge of the scriptures.
Reading the scriptures in depth, looking for nuggets, requires a little more skill than an extensive horizontal reading; therefore, help is welcome. Don’t even think about sorry to stop reading here!
The most important thing is to have a good Bible, if it could be a study it would be great as this will already provide many help tools, usually an introductory overview of each book, footnotes, reference crosses, a match and maps.
I really like to use the comment verse by verse. These books are very useful for passages that we cannot understand alone, but use them only after meditating and asking for the help of the holy spirit in prayer.
Provides biblical terms for the time; It is good to inform us about names and places, aspects of history, scenarios and doctrines.
Read the word in prayer, have a quiet and private place, ask questions about the text, have a notebook for your doubts and discoveries, just think about the text.
Look, I’m going to encourage you by quoting some verses that I love very much, I love them so much that I memorized them and I’m going to quote them out loud, meditating, chewing every word, but more of that, I delight in what they provoke in my affections, something like tasting brownies with cream ice cream and hot chocolate sauce (you see, right?).
Let the word of Christ live abundantly in you, and counsel us wisely, praising God with spiritual psalms, hymns, and chants with gratitude in our hearts. Colossses 3. 16
Let us know together the effects this practice reveals to us in these verses: when the word of Christ dwells in us, we can surely educate and counsel one another, because our mouths will speak of what is filled in our hearts. (Lk 6:45), and we will be sure that our hearts will be richly inhabited by Christ. , incarnate verb (Jn 1:14). To know that we have the word ALL next to the word SABIDURIA. All wisdom means that it is necessary to poll the whole Bible to know Christ, in which all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden (cf. Colosssenses 2. 3). Also in this verse we see that being saturated with Christ causes us praise, and now our mouth, without being able to shut, sings, and gratitude arises spontaneously in us. Hallelujah!
All Scripture is inspired by God and useful to teach, to rebuke, to correct, to educate in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect and perfectly qualified for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Understanding that Paul speaks of all Scripture, this also includes the parts we least love, because the scriptures bear witness of themselves; Moreover, the same Spirit that inspired the Saints to write inspires our minds to understand. It is useful for practical moral life: teaching, rebuking, correcting, educating, allowing us to be better in our relationships. These verses promise perfection, which we cannot accomplish on our own, yet here is a promise. I remember that when these verses made sense to me, I prayed for training in an area of my work, and when I read that the Word of God would enable me for ALL good work, it was liberating, a balm, since then I have clung to these verses.
Because the word of God is alive, effective, and sharper than any double-edged sword, and penetrates to the point of dividing the soul and mind, joints, and marrow, and can discern the thoughts and purposes of the heart. Hebrews 4: 12
In addition to all that is already written, you could still mention many other benefits that would not fit into this little text, yet have in your heart that one of the most precious moments in which we can know our Lord intensely is when, alone. with our Bible, we enter into the Word, it is at this moment that our beloved Lord speaks to us personally, it is a personal relationship, created by the blood of Christ shed for the love of each of us, love that is the bond of perfection (Colossses 3:14). We must rejoice in the grace of having a special moment with the Lord of life; It is at this moment that His Spirit reaches our minds hidden in these places, between joints and pumpkins, in the innermost of us, where only He can penetrate every fold of our thoughts, in fact to poll the rubble of our hearts and enlighten, heal, invigorate.
So I went to see the angel and told him to give me the book. Then he said unto me, Take it and return it; it will certainly be bitter in the stomach, but in the mouth it is sweet as honey. Revelation 10. 9
Are you still here? Go ahead, sheep!
To the Lord, every honor and majesty, today and forever.
Sheep, here we transcribe the verses mentioned above to make them easier to read, please read them, because it is the word of God that transforms us.
Luke 13:24
He said unto them, Try to enter through the narrow door, for I say unto them that many shall seek to enter, and they will not be able to.
Luke 16:16
The law and prophets were in force until John; since then, the gospel of the kingdom of God has been proclaimed, and everyone strives to enter it.
Proverbs 13. 4
The sloth desires and has nothing, but the soul of the diligent has had enough.
Luke 3. 45
The good man of the good treasure of the heart takes away good, and the wicked of evil treasure takes away evil; because the mouth speaks of what is full of the heart.
John 1:14
And the Word became flesh, and dwelted among us, full of grace and truth, and we saw his glory, his glory as that of the father’s besath.
Colossses 3. 14
Above all, however, there is love, which is the bond of perfection.
Book very well organized by Jen, who is a teacher of Bible studies. You can read it in a week and practice.
It is deeper and more complete than the book mentioned above and, being more detailed, will require more dedication and more time for reading and application. It is divided into three main parts: observation, interpretation and application. Excellent book.
