JOHN BUNYAN

Before entering into prayer, ask your soul the following: For what purpose, my soul, are you far from this place?Didn’t you come to speak to the Lord in prayer? He is present; Will he listen to you? He is merciful; he’ll help you. Your theme is small; Isn’t it about the well-being of your soul? What words will you use to pity the Lord? To complete your preparation, consider that you are only dust and ashes, and he, the great God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, clothed in light, as his clothes; that you are a vile sinner, he is a holy God; you are a poor worm crawling, he is the omnipotent Creator. In all your prayer, do not forget to thank the Lord for His mercy. When he prays, he must leave his heart speechless than to utter words without a heart. Prayer will prevent man from sining, or sin will cause man to stop praying.

Hypocritical prayer is an oxymoron; hypocrisy and prayer simply don’t match. Everything we call prayer must be separated from hypocrisy. The Lord teaches us this in the Gospels, speaking of those who pray for listeners; for them, prayer is an exhibition. If you’ve been praying for a while, you know you don’t need an auditorium to show the prayer. Sometimes we look at each other when we pray. We admire the eloquence of our call, we like the beautiful phrase. In this, our prayer goes from an act of communion with God to a manifestation of pride.

True prayer is an expression of love. True prayer is an expression of perseverance, it is an expression of gratitude.

Why love? For in prayer we have fellowship with God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit; We pray to the Father in the name of the Son through the Spirit; In the act of prayer, we revel in them and get to know them better, communicating with them. How can prayer be communion without love?

In prayer there must also be perseverance, firmness, insistence and continuous knocks on the door, that perseverance is necessary to overcome our flesh, the flesh fights the spirit. And look, when we pray, isn’t our minds often distracted, when we pray, sometimes we experience our fragility, our tiredness, our weakness. I have already fallen asleep in prayer, as the Apostles of our Lord did in The Garden of Gethsemane, so we need perseverance, we need this perseverance in the things of God, to repel the distractions of the world, to crucify the flesh again, so that we may have this full communion with the Lord.

Finally, prayer must be an expression of gratitude, let us follow in your footsteps, let us observe the divine interruptions that have epped in our lives, to receive not only Christ, but all that is in him, receive him and experience him. in surprising ways, at the right times, at times after those we had anticipated . . . God’s divine interruptions, which are blessings and distributions of his goodness to us, must nourish our gratitude. we can be aware of the goodness and goodness of the Lord.

Even when we cannot see The Hand of God, as the saying goes, we can trust in your heart, because we know that God is good and we are grateful for His goodness, this pushes us to pray and persevere, and comes back to us in love. of Christ, our Savior, God our Father, and the Spirit, our Comforter.

Beloved Father, we come to you in the name of your beloved Son, give us perseverance in prayer, even when we do not immediately see the answers, believe that you do not deny us any good, and trust that you will avoid what we seek that is bad for us. Your paths are higher than ours and we entrust our demands to your sovereignty. Amen.
