Basic text: 2Re 4. 8-37
The Holy Spirit enlightens Jesus and is honest when Jesus is honored; Thus, it enlightens us, leads us to be born again and grants us the faith submitted to Jesus, as illustrated by this text of the Old Testament.
- The Sunamita.
- Even childless.
- When asked what he wanted.
- Replied.
- “I live among my people.
- “Are you satisfied with the part God has given you?.
The Sunamite woman, even in the face of her son’s death, responds with incredible faith. She puts her son in the prophet’s bed, though she knows that putting a dead man in contact with an object would contaminate him, because she believes that god’s man could heal him. He closes the door so that no one can touch his son and goes to Elisha’s house, even if he is far away, because faith overcomes barriers and is immensely creative (remember the men who led the sick by the roof to Jesus). Faith overcomes barriers and finds the way to Christ, because the Spirit guides us to Jesus. On the way to the prophet, her husband asks what happened and she simply answers shalom (everything will be fine). By faith, he thinks everything’s going to be okay. When she reaches the man of God, when Giezi asks if all is well, she answers shalom (everything is fine). We do not say that everything is well, when the son of promise is dead, except when we trust in God at that time, submitting to him.
She understands that the Lord is sovereign in all things and we recognize her hand in everything. If God’s hand is not in everything, then there is no hope. When difficult situations affect us, we must say, “The Lord is the one who takes life and gives it”(1 Sam 2. 6).
When Job lost his children, he said, “Did the Lord give it to him and the Lord took it from him?(Job 1:21). A disbeliever says “why to me, ” an enlightened believer says” why not to me, that I deserve nothing. “All that is on earth is the grace of God. When we understand this, we appreciate God’s small blessings.
It is one thing to say that it was the Lord who brought it, another is to say that it is ok, but another, even deeper, that is to say that “everything is well”. Not only did Job recognize that the Lord had taken his children, but he said, “Blessed be the name of the Lord!”(Job 1:21).
The deepest step of submission is to cling to God in the midst of a deep test, to hold on to the Lord as if he were our best friend, when everything seems to say that he is our worst enemy, is to kiss the stick that punishes us. . He speaks like Job: “Even if he kills me, will I wait for him?” (Job 13. 15).
Being submissive doesn’t mean we don’t feel pain. The soul of the Sunamita was bitter.
The Sunamita asked the prophet about what happened (2 Kings 4:28). We can’t ask why. Fists closed, but can we keep our hands open?Probe me, Lord, and you’ll know me. Jesus also asked why God abandoned him and did so without sin.
True submission is not passive. The Sunamita was active in the midst of his submission and went to meet the prophet.
So the woman who said that? Is everything going to be okay ?, then say what ?, is everything okay ?, could you apply your faith to the present and say that ?, God does everything right (Mk 7. 37). You can say it? Everything is alright? All good?? Pray for God to do well in Christ. This man welcomes sinners and is incredibly accessible. You can make things right with the worst sinners.
