What about the weather?

Christians talk a lot about the weather. They say we have to redeem time, do difficult things and not waste our lives. Most of us have heard of these things hundreds of times and know them very well. This is the kind of thing that any follower of Jesus agrees with, but when it comes to daily practice, we are lost. We say, publish and read the words, but in practice we live as if we did not believe them.

We agree that the gospel changes who we are. It transforms the way we relate to the church, of course. Does our practices change, our way of thinking about sin, discernment, reading, music, sermons, social media? But what to do this morning? That’s where we stop, how does the gospel transform my Sabbath? This is where we fall into the trap of selfishness, and suddenly the way we spend our time is the same as that of others. tasks, passed out or trapped in limbo. We need help.

  • But before that.
  • Let’s go back a moment and ask ourselves: why do we need to have this conversation.
  • Why is this question of time so relevant?First.
  • Because time is really very important.
  • Jonathan Edwards argued that time is even more valuable than money.
  • His reasoning was that lost money can be recovered.
  • But not lost time.
  • The sum of those five minutes here and there are days.
  • Weeks and years are your whole life.
  • The way the day goes by has an eternal impact.

Besides, God tells us to use our time well. Ephesians 5:16 calls us to “recover time, for the days are evil”. We live in idyllic times and the Word of God requires that our lives be different from those around us. He calls us to invest our minutes and hours in activities that honor Jesus, not those that give us a temporary pleasure (Cl 4. 5).

Finally, and perhaps the most important problem, is that time does not belong to us, we are only the administrators of this life and we are accountable to God for what we do with our lives (1P 4. 10). This is the profound truth we have lost. We forget that our role in the use of our time is not to be amos, but administrators, it is God who gave us this life and belongs to him, we do not have the freedom to do what we want with our Just as he has entrusted us with a certain amount of money and talent, we have to take care of his heritage and we will respond to what we do with him.

How exactly do we use your time?
