We’re cursed mothers!

I often have to remember that my will is not sovereign. Sometimes it is said that the child is stubborn because he wants something very intensely, either by stubbornness or by preference. But we don’t realize that sometimes we’re stubborn! We want our will to be done at all costs, both on earth and in heaven. Ups! We want to be what we’re not, we want to be what we can’t want. It doesn’t have to be a big deal. It can be silly, like wearing a two-piece ballerina skirt and an oversized umbrella. So, isn’t it? In his head, you can. Not mine, because the boot can fall off, it will be harder to walk, it will slow me down! What about that umbrella? On the sidewalk with a lot of people, he’ll hit someone, he’ll slow me down!Do you realize I want things my way for my convenience?I’m stubborn when I think everything has to be my way and only my way is better.

I admit that writing it is much easier and makes a lot more sense than doing it. I’m not always willing to raise my arm to clap and accept that there is another way to wash the dishes, or wait for the little girl to buckle her wrist to the seat belt to get out in the car, or hear the joke? Fart, shut up and respect? for the thousandth time. But what a blessing it is to be courteous to God through my children. May God put me in my place and make me see that I am not sovereign. That God is God and that I am not! With all this, I don’t want to say: drop it! Let the child do what he wants, eat what he wants, etc. Not! Discipline has its place and is fundamental to the maturity of the child (and the parents), to impose healthy limits and free them from their madness. But choose your battles (choose your battles), choose where to spend your energy and the appearance of new gray hair. Big loot? Crocs with sock? Popcorn for dinner? (Not that I have done this in the past. ) Sometimes not being stubborn for the wrong reasons makes us lighter and more humble in perceiving others as ourselves.
