I The role of the Holy Spirit in the life and ministry of Jesus
A. The Holy Spirit allowed Jesus to deliver his people from the bondage of sin
I. Luke 4,17-21— Jesus reads Isaiah 61,1-2 in the synagogue of Nazareth.
Ⅱ. The fact that the Spirit ainted Jesus allowed him to tell the people that he had come to take away their sins and deliver them from their depravity.
B. The Spirit allowed Jesus to bring restoration during his ministry in a way never before seen in redemptive history.
I. Jesus healed a lot and brought restoration to a sick land
II. . Jesus did not heal everyone, but brought healing and restoration to give an idea of the future permanent restoration.
C. The Spirit allowed Jesus to deliver the oppressed from demonic slavery.
I. Jesus’ ministry witnessed the greatest influence of demonic activity in the history of the world.
1. The demonic forces understood that the time of their preeminence was coming to an end.
2. Su teacher was frustrated with Jesus and they tried to beat him in a final assault to avoid his saving work.
II. . The Holy Spirit allowed Jesus to establish his kingdom and defeat his demonic adversaries.
II. Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit
A. Luke 10:21-24 demonstrates Jesus’ special communion with the Holy Spirit.
I. Jesus rejoices in the Spirit for having heard of the works of his disciples.
1. Jesus marvels at the activity of the Spirit in his disciples for the kingdom.
2. With ecstatic joy, Jesus thanks the Father for his communion with himself and with the Spirit.
II. . The Spirit worked on the disciples to promote and advance the kingdom of Jesus.
B. Jesus proclaims that blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin (Luke 12:10).
I. When Jesus speaks of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, He refers to resisting the ministry of the Spirit.
Ⅱ. When you resist the Spirit, you resist the will of the Father. Resisting the will of the Father is a blow to the happiness of Jesus, which is the main purpose of the Father.
The Spirit worked in Jesus’ life to increase his wisdom and stature, which in turn increased the Father’s favor for him.
2. Jesus said that the Father loved him for his willingness to give his life for his sheep (John 10:14-17). Speaking in a human way, Jesus found the extreme favor of his Father in this act, so the Spirit prepared and strengthened him.
