Now all the furniture is in the room, but only when you turn on the light do you realize that all the furniture is there, this is very similar to God’s revelation in the Old Testament, the God of the Old Testament is the same as the God of the New Testament. He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but in a sense the believers of the ancient covenant lived in a kind of dark room.
Ⅰ. The Revelation of Jesus Christ
To. The scriptures proclaim that Jesus reveals the Father.
B. Al as his revelation from the Father, Jesus also reveals the Holy Spirit.
I. John 14:17 😕 You [the disciples] know him [the Spirit], because he lives with you and will be in you?
Jesus does not refer here to a difference between the believers of the old and the new covenant.
2. The Spirit was with the disciples because the Lord Jesus was with them.
II. . Just as the disciples know the Father by Jesus’ communion with him, the disciples know the Spirit for his communion with Jesus.
II. Communion between Jesus and the Spirit
A. The prophet Isaiah illustrates the Spirit’s relationship with Jesus’ ministry more than any other.
I. Isaiah 42, 49, 50, and 52-53 indicate the presence of the Spirit with the Lord’s suffering Servant, Jesus.
II. . Isaiah 61: This chapter reveals that the Holy Ghost is companion, help, encouragement, counselor, and director throughout the life of the Lord Jesus Christ.
B. The Spirit plays an important role in Jesus’ childhood
I. Luke 1. 26-38: These verses demonstrate the important role of the Spirit in the Savior’s conception of the world.
1. v. 35: The Holy Spirit will come upon Mary and envelop her in her shadow.
Like Genesis 1. 2, the Spirit gives form and life to Jesus within the Virgin Mary.
B. The Holy Spirit is present and serves Jesus from his embryonic state.
2. De the infertility of the virgin, the Holy Spirit gives life to those who will take their people out of slavery.
Ⅱ. Luke 2,41-52: The Spirit serves Jesus in his childhood
Jesus’ parents do not know where he is and frantically seek him in Jerusalem.
2. When they find him, Jesus answers Mary’s question by saying, “Why were you looking for me?Didn’t you know it was my duty to be with my Father?
Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, knew where to find his Father
B. Your parents should know that your child would be waiting for this opportunity to meet his Heavenly Father.
3. Jesus grew in wisdom and stature because He walked step by step in communion with the Holy Spirit, who gave him wisdom.
