God, only God, is supreme. The God you touch on your face extends to invisible and unsonable purposes. John Piper put it this way: “The deer you delve into God’s revealed thoughts, the more clearly you will see God’s purpose in creating the world, as you demonstrate the value of your own glory. “Piper adds: “This goal is but the infinite and growing joy of his people in this glory. “10 We also see it in the Westminster Confession of Faith: “The main purpose of man is to glorify God and yet?”.

- We call that enjoyment “worship.
- ” When such worship is the attribution of maximum value to a person or thing that is not the only Trinitarian God in the Universe.
- It is idolatry.
- Therefore.
- The root of Christian worship is to recognize.
- Submit.
- And enjoy the supremacy of God’s glory.
- All things.
It means, for example, that God gives us the gift of sex, and it is a good gift, but he does not give it so that our joy is completed in the act of sex itself. He gave it to us so that we might be overcome by God’s goodness by giving us such a great gift. Sexuality is not an end in itself or a means of our glory. It was given to us so that we could worship God. Likewise, God gave us food and wine not to get drunk and bored, or to be unhappy with them, but so that we could taste a lot of good food or drink excellent wine and through them have fun. in God. 1Timothy 4: 4 tells us: “For everything that God has created is good and, received with gratitude, nothing should be rejected. Worship, viewed in this way, is larger and more complete than simply singing a few hymns in church service a few times a week. It is the way of life of those who are in love and enchanted by the glory of God. We worship God when, by sharing his good gifts, something happens in the deepest recesses of the soul, preventing the glory from ending up in the gift itself or in our pleasure, but it goes further, extending to the one who has given us everything. .
Without an understanding of God and without worshipping Him in this way, everything becomes shallow. Everything from dinner to sex, from marriage to children, from work to the arts and literature, everything is superficial and trivial. But when we understand the driving force behind all things, suddenly there is an eternal amount of joy at our disposal, because everything we do is enlightened and animated by the infinite glory of the eternal God.
You don’t need to be a religious professional to see evidence of this truth. If I were not a paid pastor to say these things, but only a student of humanity, I could not deny the fact that we were all established, made for I do not think it is difficult to argue that our worship is vague and superficial.
A war has started and much of the world is in an incredible confusion of poverty, hunger, civic unrest and violence. However, if you turn on the news television, you are more likely to hear about the daily activities of popular stars and actors, or how much money an athlete is making and who they are currently dating, than anything that makes sense. . Are you sure someone sees that of ours? Change of cult? it’s always on, set with ridiculously limited diffusers. Adult men paint their bodies and surf countless websites to follow a sports team? A significant emotion has spread over the physical abilities of children from a game. Go to any concert and you will see people spontaneously raising their hands, clapping their hands, closing their eyes, being spiritually touched by music. People fish or hike to be in tune with nature. We put posters on our walls, stickers on our cars, tattoos on our skin, and drugs on our system. We do all this and the like, automatically and naturally pouring into what is breaking down. We want us to like something. Worship is a natural reaction. We were created by God himself to be worshipers.
Excerpt from the book? The Explicit Gospel ?, by Matt Chandler and Jared Wilson (Faithful Editor)
The explicit gospel? It was written with the aim of exhorting Christians about the obvious carelessness observed today in many churches in the explicit presentation of the gospel, which must be at the center of any preaching. There is much talk of living a righteous life, and also about Jesus, but there is a great lack of faithful exposure of the Word of God and a deeper biblical teaching. Thinking about the need for many Christians to know the main message of the Christian faith, Matt Chandler presents the reader with a bold ex display of the true gospel.
