Verse of the day: Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life; what comes to me will never be hungry; and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty (John 6. 35).
What we need to see here is that the essence of faith is to be satisfied with all that God is to us in Christ.
- This statement focuses on two things.
- One is God’s centrality in faith.
- It is not only God’s promises that satisfy us.
- But all that God Himself is to us.
- Does faith take possession of God.
- Not just your promised gifts.
- As our treasure?.
Faith puts its hope not only in the real legacy of the coming era, but also in the fact that God will be there (Revelation 21:3). And even now, what faith embraces most fervently is not only the reality of forgiven sins (as precious as it can be), but the presence of Christ living in our hearts and the fulness of God Himself (Ephesians 3:17-19).
The other thing that emphasizes the definition of faith as being satisfied with all that God is to us is the term “satisfaction”. Faith is quenching the thirst of the soul in God’s source. In John 6. 35, do we see this?Come here? Jesus to eat and drink? What about white water? (John 4. 10,14), who are no other than Jesus himself.
Here is the secret of the power of faith to break the enslaving force of sinful attractions. If the heart is satisfied with all that God is to us in Jesus, the power of sin to turn us away from the wisdom of Christ is broken.
