The Lord will deliver His people

Throughout the world, as a rule, Christians use a basic saying of greeting: grace and peace. It’s not just a social label or convention, it’s a prayer. The Christian greeting highlights the desire to see our brothers and sisters grow.

Psalm 129 is the tenth stage of hymns. It is a psalm full of gratitude for liberation and curse. Prayers of impregnation are prayers where enemies are given to God. Pilgrims knew how to greet and pray for those who did not accept the handshake.

  • In this psalm we learn to deal with anger; We also learn to seek the Lord’s deliverance when enemies surround us.
  • Let’s see.
  • How the pilgrims sang this rich psalm:.

Appealing to the history of Israel, the pilgrims remembered the great deliverance of the Lord (1-4). They probably said to themselves, The Lord with a mighty hand delivered us from Egypt! The Lord, with renewed mercy every morning, delivered us from the captivity of Babylon! We do not know what the Psalmist refers to, but we can assume that he refers to the great liberations of the Lord in the history of his people. Israel suffered from an early age, but its enemies did not. With an image of the countryside, pilgrims were compared to a land where the labradors did not destroy the earth, but the body and soul of God’s people. Suffering was not only greater because the righteous God cut the rope of the wicked, that is, God gave relief and deliverance to his people.

We cannot skip this psalm as if it had nothing to teach us, the prayers of impregnation are not an incitement to hatred, but the surrender of anger and vengeance to the Lord, in this sense the pilgrims made the following requests:

“Don’t we wish the bad guys good luck?

Verse 8 has not yet been read in the context of imprecation, but this verse deserves further consideration. In simple terms, it was as if the pilgrims were telling themselves: Do not utter Zion’s blessing upon the wicked!Don’t bless his plans. ! In Spurgeon’s words, this part of the psalm wants to teach us the following: “We dare not use pious expressions as mere compliments, and for this reason we dare not wish the wicked good luck.

Like Israel, from an early age, the Lord’s Church, widespread throughout the world, knows what it is like to suffer; persecuted, harassed and even faced with the dangers of death, Christians continue their militant and triumphant march. because we are strong, but we have strength against enemies because the Lord can deliver His people. In Christ, the Lord has already delivered us from the worst slavery, namely the threads of sin and condemnation. In Christ, we are liberated. ! If Christ is yours, Psalm 129 will be the canticle of your life.

On the other hand, we have no cockroach blood running through our veins; we feel anger, but it does not consume us, but we transmit anger and vengeance to the Lord; Christians cannot regard wickedness as normal. Eugene Peterson, we must fear the person who loses the feeling of opposition to sin. In this sense, curses warn us of the danger of rationalizing evil to justify it as normal. The Christian has no right to bless sin and cannot love the things that God hates. Our prayer must be this: Lord, do not let ungodly projects flourish in the world!

When we pray to God, we cannot be politically correct, God does not bless sins. We must treat everyone with honor, but when we speak to the Lord in our prayers, we must ask him for the total failure of evil in the world. Did you say that prayer? Remember: Jesus has already delivered us from sin; It will also rid us of ourselves and our enemies; May the Lord free us from our enemies and let evil vanish into the world!
