Verse of the day: Blessed are you when for my sake they insult you, persecute you, and, lying, say all evil against you. Rejoice and rejoice, for your reward is great in heaven; for thus they persecuted the prophets who lived before you (Matthew 5:11-12).
One of the questions I asked recently, as I preached about the love of our enemies, from Matthew 5. 44, was: how do you love people who kidnap you and then kill you?
- Where does the power of love come from?Think about how amazing it is when it manifests itself in the real world!Could anything show the truth.
- Power.
- And reality of Christ more than that?.
I believe that Jesus gives us the key to this radical and selfless love in the same chapter.
In Matthew 5:11-12, he speaks again of being persecuted. The remarkable thing about these verses is that Jesus says that you can not only endure the mistreatment of the enemy, but also rejoice in him. what if I could do that, if I could rejoice in being persecuted, then it would be possible to love my pursuers. If the miracle of joy in the midst of the terror of injustice, pain and loss could occur, then the miracle of love. for those who offend us, it could also happen.
Jesus gives the key to joy in these verses. He said, “Rejoice and rejoice, for your reward is great in heaven. “Is faith in God’s future grace the key to joy?”Your reward is great in heaven. ” I believe that this joy is the liberating power to love our enemies when they persecute us, if this is true, then the commandment to love is an order to fix our minds on the things above, not those of the earth. (Colosssenses 3. 2).
The commandment to love our enemy is an order to find our hope and satisfaction in God and his great reward: his future grace. The key to radical love is faith in future grace. We must be persuaded in the midst of our agony that God’s love is better than life (Psalm 63:3). Loving your enemy does not reward you from heaven; valuing the reward of heaven allows you to love your enemy.
