The security of faith is the conviction to belong to Christ through faith and to enjoy eternal salvation. He who has this security not only believes in the righteousness of Christ for his salvation, but also knows that he believes and is loved by God in his grace.
This security has a wide range. This includes delivering guilt from sin, joy in the relationship with the God of the Trinity, and a sense of belonging to God’s family. James W. Alexander said safety “carries with it the idea of fullness, like a tree laden with fruit or like the sails of a ship full of favorable winds. “
- Security is known for its fruits.
- Such as intimate communion with God.
- Submissive obedience.
- God’s thirst.
- And the desire to glorify Him.
- Fulfilling the Great Commission; safety provides awakening in prayer.
- Remaining subject to eschatological hope.
- Be sure to see heaven as your home.
- To yearn for the Second Coming of Christ.
- And the translation to glory (2 Timothy 4:4-8).
Safety has always been a vital issue. Its importance is more crucial now because we live in a time of minimal security, and worse, many do not understand it. The desire for communion with God, the desire for the glory of God and heaven, and the intercession for awakening seem to languish; this occurs when the church’s emphasis on earthly happiness surpasses the belief that it wanders in this world toward God and glory.
The need for a scripturally based doctrine of safety is reinforced by the culture’s emphasis on feelings. How we feel generally takes precedence over what we know and believe. This attitude has infiltrated the church. The extraordinary growth of the charismatic movement can be attributed, in part, to a lifeless and formal Christianity, as the charismatic movement offers its followers emotion and encouragement to fill the void created by the lack of true security of faith, as well as by the absence of its fruits. Today, we desperately need doctrinal thinking accompanied by a sanctified and vibrant life.
This article discusses problems, difficulties, and issues related to the safety of the faith. Let’s look at five important reasons why we need to grow in this security.
Integrity of faith and life
Our understanding of the safety of faith determines the integrity of our understanding of spiritual life. We may be right in many areas and misguided in our understanding of this fundamental doctrine of the scriptures.
Many mistakenly think they are Christians. We fear that countless people who consider themselves Christians will wake up in hell, with eternal horror.
Do you think it’s easy that people don’t examine whether their faith is genuine and well-founded. Maybe this mistake is called better?and don’t “create it easy. ” They claim security without having a basis for it. Mistakes in how a person achieves the safety of faith can easily lead to false security. A correct understanding of the security of faith helps us avoid this presumption.
A misconception of security can prevent us from having security, when we should be. Some of the true children of God do not believe that they are children of God. They accept a kind of “hard belief” in search of evidence that they have no right There may be strong, biblical evidence that they are children of God, but they are not satisfied with it. They themselves are the biggest obstacle to safety. A correct understanding of the assurance of faith is also important in this case.
Those who have an adequate understanding of security will avoid easy and difficult beliefs, and security will not be an automatic advantage. They will not be sure of their faith without a solid biblical test of the faith that operates in their lives; they will realize the danger of easily believing and will regularly examine their hearts and lives in the light of God’s Word. they will recognize proof of the new birth in their lives and notice their presence. When they feel a true desire for God and hatred for sin, they will recognize these things as the work of the Holy Ghost and be comforted. Do not despise the days of humble things; without these days, few of God’s children will be sure of their faith.
Peace with God
Security is inseparable from the peace and comfort of the gospel. The security that we are born of God is necessary if we want to know peace, love, and joy. The experience of true peace and joy in the Lord greatly enriches our lives while we are in this world. This is one of the reasons Thomas Brooks called his book on the safety of the faith Heaven and Earth. Security is linked to the peace and joy of the gospel and must be cultivated.
As Christians, we must desire these gifts, because we are demonstrations of the gospel. Philippians 2. 15 teaches us: “That you may become irreproachable and sincere children of God, unspotted in the midst of a perverted and corrupt generation, in which you may shine like lights in the world. “Maintaining an atmosphere of peace and joy is one of the ways in which the believer can shine like a light in this wicked world. What kind of ideas does the world have about God, if God’s people do not show that serving the Lord is wonderful What kind of statement do we make about God, if people cannot detect in us the peaceful peace and joy that distinguishes us?
This is not to say that Christians do not have moments of sadness because of sin, difficulties and doubts, but the scriptures are very clear in saying that Christians normally seek to manifest peace and joy in the Lord. To do this, we must be sure of our faith.
Christian service
A sure Christian is an active Christian. Paul told the Christians of Thessaloniki, “Our gospel has come to them not only in words, but above all in power, in the Holy Spirit, and in full conviction” (1 Thes 1. 5). The gospel was blessed in Thessaloniki, so there was much conviction. And Paul added: “Therefore, you have become the model for all believers in Macedonia and Aaya. Why did the word of the Lord resused not only in Macedonia and Aaya, but also through “Did your faith spread to God, to the point that we needed nothing to add?(vv. 7-8). These newly converted Christians echoed the Word of God; that is, they evangelized, so when Paul came to his area, he discovered that the Word of God was already there. These people were jealous of God because they were sure of their salvation.
An un sure Christian rarely cares about good deeds; rather, his spiritual vigour is consumed by wondering whether he is saved or not. When this doubt is not resolved, the person is not sure to help others in the service of the Lord. As JCRyle said: “The believer who lacks firm hope spends much of his time wiping his own heart in his own state of mind. As a nervous and hypochondriac man, he will fill his head with his own indispositions, his own doubts and questions. , their own conflicts and corruptions. In short, will a believer so engrossed in his internal conflicts have little time for anything else and to work for God?(? Security ?, in Holiness without which no one will see the Lord, Faithful Editor, 2009, p. 159).
Sometimes we think that our goal here on earth is simply to find salvation; once we’re saved, we don’t have much to do before we get to heaven. Conversion is seen as an end in itself. But that’s not true. We convert to a goal: to serve God in the world. 1 Peter 2. 9 explains why God decided to convert people:?However, you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people who belong exclusively to God, to proclaim the virtues of the one who called you from darkness into his wonderful light?God converts us to proclaim His virtues. We convert to serve God and our neighbor; If we lack security, our service to God will not be enthusiastic.
Communion with God
Security is precious because it enriches our communion with God, how can a person have an intimate communion with God if he fears that God is angry?, how difficult it would be to have a fraternity with a child who is always afraid of us. never feels comfortable and never accepts our expressions of love. In this environment, an intimate relationship is impossible.
On the other hand, consider the security implicit in the Song of Songs, when the bride said, “I am for my beloved and my beloved is mine. “Here there is communion, interaction, warm and dignified relationship, love and trust, on the part of the bride, in the fact that love is reciprocal, this is the kind of communion that the Lord wants to have with his people, often describes his relationship with them in terms that involve intimacy: father and children, husband and wife, married and married, head and body. The Lord uses the most intimate relationships in life to describe the relationship He wants to have with His people. It is obvious that security is necessary to develop this type of relationship.
Holiness to the lord
Finally, safety is crucial because it makes the Christian more holy. Speaking of the security that results from the knowledge that we are children of the Father, John said, “And all that this hope has in him is purified, just as it is also pure?(1 Jn 3. 3).
Security that does not lead to a more holy life is false; he who has a well-founded security, who experiences peace and joy, who devotes himself to the work of the Lord and lives in intimate communion with God, is a holy person. cannot persist in high levels of security as long as it persists in low levels of holiness.
Security puts us in close contact with the power of God. When we enjoy a relationship of trust with God and rest in His mercy and grace, our hearts are ignited by God’s love. This love allows us to live in holiness. The closer we are to God, the more we love Him and the purer our lives will be. A holy person is motivated by God’s love, by Christ. Christ’s love impels the holy man (2:5:14).
Then you can see how important this security issue is. Someone may be saved without security. However, it is almost impossible for someone to be a healthy Christian if they do not have the security of faith. You can object: Don’ Does Scripture say that God has a special interest in the poor and poor sinners? If you stop being poor and needy, there is reason to doubt that your safety rests on a solid foundation. Christ must grow and wane (Jn 3:30).
The Lord is close to those who have a broken heart, a contrite spirit, and who do not yet have the security of faith. But this does not lead to the conclusion that it is a desirable condition. If we are poor and needy without the safety of faith, we must seek it.
Conclusion
Safety is vital to our spiritual well-being. Some people think safety indicates superficiality. In his eyes, a person is considered suspicious if he has security; in reality, those who see doubt as a sign of deep religious experience and advance towards God and glory without the security of faith have only a superficial understanding of the scriptures. A deeper understanding leads us to recognize the work of the Spirit in our hearts, to know it, and to rest in the Lord Jesus Christ, with a faith as a child.
