The greatest happiness of love

Verse of the day: No one has ever hated his own flesh; on the contrary, he nourishes and cares for her, as Christ does to the Church; because we are members of your body (Ephesians 5:29-30)

The union between Christ and his wife is so close (“a flesh”) that all the good done to him is a well done to himself. The clear affirmation of this text is that this reality motivates the Lord to nourish, heal, sanctify, and purify. his wife.

  • By some definitions.
  • This can’t be love.
  • Do they say that love should be free of self-interest?Especially Christian love.
  • Especially the love of Calvaire.
  • We have never seen a vision of love like this according to this scripture passage.

However, this text clearly calls to love what Christ does for his wife: “Husbands, love your wife, how did Christ also love the Church?”(Ephesians 5:25). Why do we not let the text define love for us, rather than provide our definition of ethics or philosophy?According to this text, love is the search for our joy in the holy joy of the beloved.

There is no way to exclude self-interest from love, because self-interest is not the same as selfishness. Selfishness seeks its own private happiness, at the expense of others.

Love seeks happiness in the happiness of the beloved. Love itself will suffer and die for the beloved, so that his joy may be filled with the life and purity of the beloved.

Christ has loved us so much, and that is how Christ commands us to love one another.
