The sad news comes directly from the town of Beira, Mozambique, on 14 March Cyclone Idai completely devastated this place, hundreds of lives were destroyed by disaster and thousands more were tragically affected by this phenomenon of nature, causing a humanitarian crisis in and around the city Tragedies always leave painful traces and cause mourning.
It is common at the moment to ask some questions: “Why did God allow such tragedy? If God is good, why did Cyclone Idai allow the destruction of the city of Beira, causing losses and a humanitarian crisis?”
That said, I’ll make some comments here without wanting to exhaust the subject.
1. Cyclones, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods exist because of the fall of man, it is important to understand that the fall of Adam and Eve, and therefore of all mankind, has affected everything, including the universe in which we live.
And he said unto the man, For ye have heard the voice of thy wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, ye shall not eat it; Cursed will be the earth for your sake; with suffering you will eat it all the time. day of your life? (Genesis 3. 17)
2. God often brings these disasters as a way to remind us that we are fragile, and when we find ourselves in tragedies like this, we can clearly see that we do not control our lives.
3. We can find comfort in Christ when tragedies visit us, because Christ knows very well what suffering is: he became a man, he lived among us, he was despised, he carried our weaknesses, he was pierced by our transgressions, he was crushed because Jesus Christ was oppressed and afflicted, and like a lamb, He was led to the slaughter. And most intriguing of all is that it was God’s will to crush you and make you suffer. Christ willingly gave his life. He suffered for our suffering, so we can find comfort in Him.
4. Christians should not fail to feel pain in the face of the misfortune of others. We must cry with those who cry.
? Rejoice with those who rejoice; crying with those who cry?(Rom 12. 15)
Tragedies give us the opportunity to serve, provide humanitarian aid, and share our faith.
I want to invite you to get involved in the beira drama
