The child and the baby

Did I just hear the rumor? A lot of noise about the recent abortion case.

Somehow I tried to stay disciplined away from the ‘agenda of the day’, there is a lot of noise and all the screams and excess information occupy a mental space that greatly damages health and productivity, all this not to mention the constant manipulation of the media and loss of concentration in the eternal.

  • But this is another conversation.
  • The fact is.
  • I just heard the rumor about a raped 10-year-old girl who got pregnant and was about to have an abortion.

Did the noise of mosquito nets reveal two major inclinations, one for abortion and one for abortion? And the inclinations were soon exploited by two main parties: abortionists and anti-abortionists.

The discussion about abortion is inevitable. And, being such an important issue, it’s perfectly impossible to understand the screams, but something bothered me.

I don’t want to go into the discussion just to say something for or against abortion, many already do and do it better than me, I just want to highlight one point of view on the discussion.

My discomfort was because in the midst of the screams, the child and the baby seemed to disappear.

First I noticed some polarization between the child and the baby, it’s like you have to choose a side: or do you defend the child? And you don’t care about the baby, or do you defend the baby? And the boy, who turns around.

But who says we have to choose a side?Who defined that only one of us can (should) be loved?

Of course, not everyone believes it, but that was my impression when I saw the discussion.

And I soon noticed a second movement, which came from this one first: the child and the baby not only placed the other, but began to disappear among the adults screaming in the public space.

The child and the baby have been depersonalized, transformed into ‘symbols of a cause’. It’s never good for a man, in the flesh, to become an idea. Ideas are always smaller than people. Ideas don’t carry image and resemblance. God Himself.

These moments will inevitably raise the question of abortion and its possibilities, but to turn the dilemma of a real child and a real baby into a mere instrument of the cause of abortion or the fight against abortion is to do violence against the child and the baby. .

Abortionists want to defend and rape the child by depersonalizing him; anti-abortionists want to defend the baby and rape him by depersonalizing him.

I did not come here to propose a solution to the debate, I have come to suggest that before approaching the abstract discussion (with practical implications, no doubt), we learn to love the child and the baby, with their name and face, and cry over a situation so hard.

The discussion will have to take place, because vultures do not waste carrion, but an aligned heart can make a difference in our ability to look at the specific situation and discuss abstractions with boldness and love.

Deus Fez Tudo em Mim addresses, wisely and simply, a problem that every family must think about today to prevent child sexual abuse. With illustrations and language tailored to the age group ages two to eight, this book seeks to help parents teach their children why their bodies are important and how to protect them.
