Surviving the Dangers of Prosperity (Randy Alcorn)

Dwight L. Moody once said, “We can endure affliction better than prosperity; because in prosperity do we forget God?This reminds me of something that Josef Tson, a believer who was almost martyred in communist Romania, said in a course that he had had the opportunity to attend: “90% of Christians pass the test of adversity, while 90% of Christians fail in the test of prosperity. “

He really finds a voice in the Word of God, for example, Deuteronomy 6:10-12 says:

  • Thus.
  • When the Lord.
  • Your God.
  • Came to the earth he had promised under oath to your parents Abraham.
  • Isaac.
  • And Jacob.
  • He would give you great and good cities that you did not build; and houses full of all that is good.
  • Houses that you did not fill; and open wells that you have not opened vines and olive groves that you have not planted; And when you eat and be satisfied.
  • Be careful.
  • Let us not forget the Lord.
  • Who took you out of the land of Egypt.
  • From the house of servitude.

We must realize that without God’s work in our lives, we would never have known such abundant blessings, how many good things happen to us that we have not had to work, conquer, or accomplish, but have simply been entrusted to us through the houses where we grew up and the culture in which we live These blessings come from the things God has done in the past and is doing for us now.

Osseas 13:6 said, “When they had pastures, they were satisfied, and when they got tired, their hearts swelled; So, have you forgotten me?There is always a danger of looking at all the things God has given. and starting to think we’ve made it. We are beginning to believe that, one way or another, we deserve everything we have instead of recognizing the sovereign grace of God that has put so good things in our hands.

So watch for prosperity. The only way to survive prosperity is to see it as a gift from God’s hand and use it generously to help others.
