If we had only told the story of Lot’s life in the book of Genesis, we would never have imagined that Lot was a true believer, but 2 Peter 2 tells us three times that this conflicted and forgiving man was ??and more: that He was annoyed and plagued by life in Sodom. The carefully crafted description of Lot that Peter proposes is: ??the righteous Lot, annoyed by the dissolute life of abominable men (For this righteous man, who lives among them, afflicts every day his righteous soul, then he his unjust works)?(v. 7-8). Ironically, though Lot was disgusted with Sodom, Sodom was in his soul. Therefore, it is possible for a believer to be tormented by the world as he voluntarily adheres to the world.
There is no evidence that Lot has had a beneficial influence on the inhabitants of Sodom. Although Lot lived there for years and was prominent there and therefore had many opportunities to influence his friends, it was a total disappointment. When the trial of Sodom came, he was not found right outside his family. No acquaintance, no neighbor, none of his servants knew the Lord. Their call to the Sodomites at their door was despised by them. There was no lack of seriousness; his words had no weight.
- And most tragically: Lot’s life did nothing to bring his family and loved ones to paradise; none of his friends or family feared God; when he insisted that his future weeds flee the destruction of cities.
- They mistook him for a goalscorer Lot’s words had no substance because he had no substance.
- In addition.
- Lot’s lifestyle did nothing to loosen the cultural bond with his wife.
- He left his heart to Sodom and couldn’t resist looking back?Which led to her destruction.
- The same woman who had her daughters.
- Who was the most intimate person.
- Who knew the contours of her soul.
- Saw nothing in him or in her faith that would take her from earth to heaven.
It is also clear that Lot’s decisions had encouraged the absorption of the spirit of Sodom by the souls of his daughters. Deception, of course, was a way of life in Sodom, and Lot was one of them. But his deception was spiritual and therefore deadly at the national level. Inside, were you bored of the dissolute life of abominable men?and afflicted “every day [in] his righteous soul,” Peter says; but outwardly he said little or nothing because he had become an important man in the city. Lot had mastered the art of being blind and deaf in the face of Sodom’s social and sexual abuse. I didn’t practice them. I didn’t approve of them, I hated them. But he didn’t say anything against it. Obscene profanities and language received Lot’s diplomatic smile and cautious complacency.
His daughters observed his committed character that so deftly concealed what he really thought. Survivor Lot was a teacher. His daughters could not forget that, in their infamous betrayal of their paternal duties, he had offered them both to appease the fierce men of Sodom; thus, during successive father-daughter seductions, the girls used the art he had bequeathed to them. His wine, fraud and betrayal were mixed and served together in a dark glass at the bottom of the cave, the misfortune he suffered through his daughters was remarkable, for, with cruel irony, he himself performed the shameful act he had suggested to men. From Sodom, Lot truly sowed Sodom in the soul of his daughters.
Lot’s madness was as follows: although Sodom’s worldlyness tormented his righteous soul, he lived as close to the world as possible, clinging to this precious life until his bitter end, and the result was that, although God judged all Sodom, with the exception of Lot and his daughters, Sodom is reborn in their own lives, therefore we see that it is possible for believers like us , that we are truly tormented by the course of this world, let us live lives so deeply influenced by the culture in which Sodom is reborn. the lives we love the most.
