Serving wisely: aiming for maturity? Gilson Santos (Replay: Conference of Faithful Pastors and Leaders 2016)

In this text we can see the Apostle’s emphasis on completeness. Paul reports that in proclaiming Christ, he served the church by warning EVERYONE and teaching EVERYONE throughout SAGESTO, to present ALL the perfect WORLD in Christ. , next to the Church of the Gentiles, Paul sought to address something that was missing, incomplete, and to bring it to a point of fullness, of totality, of maturity; and that’s why he fought and fought, for the power of God.

The content and form Paul seeks to convey are Christ, in all his wisdom.

  • Wisdom:? Biblical wisdom can be defined as the skill in the art of living piously.
  • Or more fully.
  • The orientation by which one lives in harmony with the way God ordered the world (Study Bible: English study version.
  • ESV).

We read in the scriptures, that the sage has discernment:? But solid food is for adults (mature teleios?), for those who, by practice, have exercised their powers to discern not only good, but also evil?(Heb 5. 14)

He also reads that the sage has judgment. Discretion makes distinctions, but the test establishes merit, values, and hierarchy. The test is what makes it possible to judge; The ability to judge; the rule to distinguish between true and false. Criterion is the key to deciding and choosing.

In addition, the sage has a meaning and a standard of measurement. Measuring means calculating and applying a standard and setting limits or conditions. Lack of discernment and judgment results in a lack of measurement, size, or proportion.

Perfect? (teleios) can be translated as “mature”, “adult”, “mature”, “the one who has attained the state of a made man”. And Christ is the model or model of a mature person.

The mature person in NT manifests himself in a mature way of thinking, because he was instructed by wisdom to recognize the truth; it also manifests a mature form of relationship, as it was perfected by wisdom in God’s love.
