Grace must be free
Verse of the day: We walk by faith and not by what we see (2 Corinthians 5. 7).
Imagine salvation as a house in which you live
Provides protection. It is full of food and drinks that will last forever, never ages and never collapses. Its windows open to views of glory.
God built it at great cost to him and his Son, and He gave it to you.
The “purchase” contract is called a “new alliance”. The terms state: “This house will be and will remain yours if you receive it as a gift and a pleasure in the Father and the son, while they live in the house with you. Will you not desecrate the house of God by harboring other gods?And you won’t divert your heart to other treasures?
Wouldn’t it be foolish to say yes to this agreement and hire a lawyer to set a monthly repayment schedule in the hope of balancing certain bills?
I would no longer treat the house as a gift, but as a purchase; God would no longer be the free benefactor. And he would be a slave to a new set of demands that God never thought of imposing on him.
Is it free grace? We can’t see it as reciprocal
