September 8th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: Your fruit comes from me. (Osseas 14. 8)

Our fruit comes from our union with God. The fruit of the branch has its origin directly related to the root. When we cut the branch, it dies and bears no fruit. By virtue of our union with Christ, we bear fruit. Each bunch of grapes was the first at the root. It went through the trunk, followed by the sap vessels, molding itself out into fruit. Likewise, every good work of the believer was first in Christ and then produced in us. Believer, appreciate this precious union with Christ, because it must be the source of all the fruitfulness you hope to experience. If you weren’t united to Jesus Christ, you would really be a barren branch. Our fruit comes from the spiritual providences of God. When dew drops fall from the sky; When the clouds look up and almost distil their liquid treasure, when the bright sun makes the fruits of the bouquet grow, every heavenly blessing can whisper to the tree: “Your fruit comes from me. ” The fruit owes a lot to the root, which is essential for fruiting, but also to external influences. Oh! How much we owe to God’s providence and grace! He constantly gives us courage, teaching, comfort, empowerment, and whatever else we need. This translates into all our usefulness and efficiency. Our fruit comes from God as a result of his wise agriculture. Winemaker pruning leaves promote tree fruiting by thinning bunches or removing excess buds. Oh believer, this is also happening in your life during the pruning that the Lord is doing in you. “My father is the farmer. Any branch that does not bear fruit in me, He cuts it off; And the one that bears fruit properly, to produce more fruit? (John 15: 1,2). Since God is the author of our spiritual graces, we must give him all the glory of our salvation.
