Verse of the day: And, not being able to approach him, because of the multitude, they discovered the roof in the place corresponding to his place, and, making an opening, they lowered the bed in which the sick man was lying (Mark 2. 4).
Faith is full of creativity. The house was full of people; a crowd blocked the door. But faith has found a way to approach the Lord and place the paralytic before Him. If we cannot bring sinners into the presence of Jesus using ordinary methods, we must use extraordinary means. According to Luke 5:19, it appears that the roof had to be removed; it would bring dust and cause some danger to those below. But, when the case is urgent, one should not hesitate to take risks and clash with social conventions. Jesus was there to heal; and whatever happens, faith would risk everything so that the unhappy paralytic could have his sins forgiven. Oh! If we had a bolder faith in each other! On this day, try to perform a brave act for the love of souls and for the glory of Jesus! The world is constantly inventing; the ability serves all the purposes of human desire. Can’t faith also invent and reach, through new procedures, the lost who perish around us? It was the presence of Jesus that aroused the victorious courage of the four men who carried the paralyzed man. Isn’t the Lord with us now? Did we see your face that day? Do we feel its power to heal in our own souls? If this is true, let’s break down all the obstacles, be it the door, the window or the roof, and work to bring souls to Jesus. All means are good and decent when faith and love are truly used to win souls. If the hunger for bread can tear down the stone walls, the hunger of souls must not delay in its efforts. O Lord, prepare us to discover methods to reach your sick through sin; and also give us the audacity to take them away, despite all obstacles.
