Verse of the day: The Lord looks from heaven; sees all the children of men (Psalm 33. 13)

Perhaps no other figure of speech portrays God with such brilliance as the figure that presents Him descending from His throne, coming from heaven to meet the needs and contemplate the problems of humanity. We love the One who, seeing the cities of Sodorna and Gomorrah full of iniquity, did not destroy them before paying them a personal visit. We cannot help but pour out our hearts of affection for our Lord, who inclines his ear to the highest glory and places it very close to the lips of the dying sinner whose weakened heart yearns for reconciliation. How can we not love him, when we know that he even counts the number of our hairs, marks our path and orders our steps? This great truth is very close to our hearts, because we remember how attentive the Lord is, not only to the temporal interests of his creatures, but also to their spiritual needs. Although there is a great distance between the finite creature and the Infinite Creator, there are ties that unite the two. When you cry, God knows. As a father pities his children, does the Lord pity those who fear him? (Psalm 103. 13). Your sigh can touch Jehovah’s heart. Your whisper may incline their ears to you. Your prayer can stop his hand and your faith can move his arm. Do not believe that God is on high, ignoring everything that is happening to you. Remember that even though you are poor and needy, the Lord is thinking of you. His eyes roam the whole earth, so that he is strong for the benefit of those who have a perfect heart for him (see 2 Chronicles 16: 9).
