September 27th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: Bless you, Israel, who like you?People saved by the Lord (Deuteronomy 33. 29)

The person who imagines Christianity as a religion that makes man miserable is completely ignorant of the nature of Christianity. It would be really strange if Christianity made us miserable, because look at what position Christianity exalts us! Christianity makes us children of God. Do you think that God will grant your enemies all happiness and that your own family will whisper? Will God’s enemies rejoice and God’s children inherit pain and dishonor? The sinner, who has no part in Christ, will say himself, rich in happiness, and will we continue to mourn as if we were poor poor? No way. We will always rejoice in the Lord (see Philippians 4. 4) and boast of his inheritance, because you have not received the spirit of bondage to live in fear again, but you have received the spirit of adoption, on the basis of which we cry: Abba, father? (Romans 8:15). To some extent, the rod of discipline should rest upon us, but it bears the fruits of justice. Therefore, with the help of the divine Comforter, we, the Lord’s saved people, will rejoice in the God of our salvation. We are married to Christ. Will the great church groom allow his bride to remain in constant sadness? Our heart is intimately linked to yours. We are His members, and although for a time we suffer as our Head suffered, we are blessed with heavenly blessings in Him. We have the pledge of our inheritance in the consolations of the Holy Spirit, which today are numerous and immense. Heirs of eternal joy, we have predictions about our heritage. There are traces of the light of joy that announce our eternal rising sun. Our riches are beyond the sea. Our city, built on solid foundations, is located on the other side of the river. The glimpses of glory from the spirit world enliven our hearts and propel us forward. It is true: happy you are, Israel! Who is like you? People saved by the Lord?
