We just said goodbye to Netflix here at home.
It was with this phrase that I spoke publicly on social networks in the middle of an absolutely normal week, but whose consequences would be a little less frequent. I explain the reasons. I realized that something was happening beyond what was tolerable from a Christian perspective, which led me to cancel my subscription to Netflix, which released videos in co-production with a group called Porta dos Fundo, whose content is generally libertine humor and irreverent, commonly marked by a lot of sarcasm, and who specialized in morbid acidity in relation to themes of Christianity. In their ranks it is said that there are people who have passed through churches and therefore, although they do not commune with the body of Christ, they know what they are doing. The two titles called? Christmas special? Was I surprised you didn’t drink dinner? Y? The first temptation of Christ. Without further details, in the first, the disciples get drunk at the Last Supper and wake up hungover the next day without knowing where Jesus ended up, and in the second, Jesus is 30 years old and, coming back from temptation in the desert, bring your boyfriend now everyone.
- Going from grantors to producers or co-producers of videos who clearly mock the faith of others.
- Especially Christ.
- The services are no longer compatible with me and at home.
- Because I understand that the monthly budget that I pay represents part of the money used in this draft.
- A Christian would then go from a client with reservations to a sponsor of the impudence with which he treated the Christian faith.
Matthew 20:19 presents Jesus himself saying that he should go to Jerusalem, where he would be handed over to the authorities. There he would be executed and handed over to the Gentiles to mock, scourge and crucify him. The mockery begins with the form of betrayal: a kiss from the one who walked with Jesus. Arrested, Jesus was spat on in the Sanhedrin and scorned with sarcastic questions while being tortured. Ironically, in Pilate, he was given clothes and titles of sheer mockery as he walked away in pain and torment. Upon reaching the cross, they continued to ridicule Christ, starting with the Jews, through the Gentiles, and seeing everyone laugh at him, including the clergy, the soldiers, and even the nearby thief on the road. Cross. In fact, being on the cross was already a humiliation and a terrible mockery. All did not regret it. Until Paul, in 1 Corinthians 11, warns against those who, being brothers, continue to mock Christ in a veiled way, because who, being a brother, eats and drinks the Lord’s Supper without good discernment becomes a defender of judgment, being something as well as those who mocked and insulted the Lord.
Keeping me as a sponsor of film productions that mock and slander the Lord is like slaping him, spitting him out, hitting him on the head to bury the thorns of the crown, mocking him, forcing him to walk naked through the streets carrying the great weight of the tree, pierce him on the side with a spear, yell at him to come down from the cross if he can; or, for those closest to you, it is the same as leaving the Lord alone on the way of the cross, disappearing as he suffers, denying that he knows him, fleeing in fear of Rome and, later, communicating himself only aesthetically without the true discernment of the Lord, accumulating unhappiness on his own head under God’s judgment, all this co-produces mockery and humiliation for the Lord.
The episode of the streaming service has more value than we imagined, it’s an examination of one’s own: where is the hearts of christians of our time ?, is there anything worth having for free time ?, can it be someone?, is Christ honest or do they make fun of the money we pay in the services for which we voluntarily pay?Can someone who claims to be a Christian give himself up to something and get away with it?Going further: Was Christ honored or despised at work, college, family, and at the local level?Church? If we get used to mocking the Lord, we will do so with these familiar phrases, such as “it doesn’t hurt,” “stop exaggerating,” “yes, because God is pure love. “God, avoid making fun of your holiness!
In addition to spiritual concern, there is the aspect of the rights to our citizens. The Penal Code goes against what was done in article 208, which clarifies this: publicly mocking someone on the grounds of belief or religious function; Prevent or disrupt religious worship or ceremony; publicly vilify an act or object of religious worship?is subject to imprisonment or a fine under the law. Some people may not know what to do, so follow at least two tips: 1) end their relationship; 2) Contact you to express your opinion or complaint: between 8 a. m. and at 11 p. m. , you can call Netflix for free at 0800-761-4631.
