I remember giving a course on Ephesians 1 in January 1976 as a visiting professor at Bethel College. I developed the class systematically during the first fourteen verses of Ephesians and my mind was constantly amazed again. Is it three times in verses 6, 12, and 14? Paul says that God chose us in Jesus before the foundation of the world and predestined us to be his children for the praise of the glory of his grace.
He chose you, why? That your glory and grace may be praised and magnified; your salvation is to glorify God; your choice is to glorify God; his regeneration is to glorify God; his justification is for the glory of God; your sanctification is for the glory of God and one day your glorification will be a dive into the glory of God.
- You were created for the glory of God.
- Isaiah 43:6-7: “Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth.
- To which I rose for my glory.
- “.
God saved his people from Israel from Egypt for their glory. Psalm 106: 7-8: “Our parents in Egypt paid no attention to your wonders; were rebels near the Red Sea. But you saved them because of your name, to let you know their power?
In other words, he divided the Red Sea and saved his rebellious people to spread their power; and her fame spread to Jericho and saved a prostitute, so that when the Israelites got there and were ready to play the trumpets, she was born again, because she said, “Do we hear her name and name?”and a woman and her family believed in a theocentric God and escaped destruction.
God took pity on Israel in the wilderness for his glory. God forgave Israel in the wilderness several times. ” The house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness,” Ezekiel said, quoting God, “Then I said I would pour out my wrath in the wilderness to consume them. But what have I done out of love for my name, that I may not be profane on the part of nations?(20: 13-14). Then, finally, God sends them to Babylon to be judged, and after 70 years, mercy begins to approach them. He won’t divorce his wife from the ring and bring them back, but why?
What is the rooted reason in God’s heart?Listen to Leaiae’s answer 48. 9-11: “By my name, I will delay my anger and for my honor I will contend with you for fear of exterminating you. , but did not lead to money; I tested you in the affliction furnace. For me, for me, I do that; because how would my name be desecrated?Don’t I give my glory to someone else? Theomentric reason for mercy.
Jesus came and died for the glory of God. What is the reason Jesus came into the world?Ah, how many times have we quoted John 3:16, and that is gloriously true. Before the end of this message, I hope you will see that such an emphasis (the glory of God) and the emphasis you have long known (your joy) are not at odds.
But why did Jesus come? According to Romans 15:8-9, he came for this reason: “Christ was made minister of circumcision, in favor of the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to our fathers; and may the Gentiles glorify God by his mercy. Jesus came to earth, became completely human, and died for you to give glory to your Father for mercy, out of love for his Father, that is the main reason for his coming: the glory of his Father, and his glory. reaches its climax in the shedding of mercy.
Listen to this word of Romans 3: 25-26: God proposed Christ, in his blood, as a propitiation to manifest the righteousness of God; was to prove, right now, that he himself is right; that’s why he died. He died to justify the righteousness of God who had left David’s sins, adultery, and murder unpunished.
Has it ever bothered you that God will leave King David’s adultery unpunished and that David will simply remain king?Well, Paul was disturbed deep in his being, that God is not righteous and leaves sins unpunished. And it wasn’t just David, there were thousands of Saints in the Old Testament (and today) whose sins God simply forgets and ignores. And Paul exclaimed, “How can you be God and do that?”How can you be fair and do that? How can you be worthy of worship and do that? What if a judge here in Austin did this?If he acquitted a pedophile, rapist, or bell, he would be fired immediately, yet God does so every day. Then we can ask, “What kind of God are you?”
The cross is the solution to a mega theological problem, namely: how can God be God and forgive sins?Jesus came to justify God for the salvation of people like you and me. Salvation is a great and gloriously focused thing.
Jesus will return to receive glory, why will He return?Jesus comes, and let me tell you why He comes and what you can do when he comes, that you may be ready and do so. 2 Thessalonians 1. 8-10: “Those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus (?) Will he suffer the pain of eternal destruction, banished from the face of the Lord and the glory of his power, when he becomes glorified in his saints and admired in all who believed that day?Can you see these two things?being glorified (magnified) in his saints and admired. If you don’t start this now, you won’t be able to do it when he gets back.
This conference exists to light a fire in your bones and light a fire in your mind and heart, so that you can prepare to meet the King Jesus, so that you may continue for eternity by doing what He created for you. that is, admire it and magnify it.
