If anyone’s thirsty, come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as Scripture says, rivers of living water will run from within. John 7,37?38

I. Rivers of ‘gua Viva’

A. John 7:37? 39: Jesus rose on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles and declared that whoever believes in him, “rivers of living water will flow from within. “

I. Jesus said this about the Spirit, which had not been given to the church.

II. . Jesus, although generally reserved in his public display, stood among the Jews and demanded that they believe in him.

The Tabernacles ceremony required the pouring of water around the base of the Holocaust altar as the Jews walked through it.

The ceremony, although not prescribed in the scriptures, served as a reminder of God’s activity among his people and meant a desire for the outpouring of the Spirit of God (Isaiah 12:3).

B. There are two different ways to translate Jesus’ statement

I. First choice: rivers of living water will flow from the believer.

II. . Second choice: Jesus refers to himself as rivers of living water.

III. . Dr. Ferguson prefers the second option

1. Jesus will send the Spirit to Pentecost, and this will serve as a discharge of rivers of living water.

2. The water that sprouted from jesus’ side when it was drilled also foreshadows this event.

II. Pentecost

A. John the Baptist prophesied that Jesus would baptize Spirit and Fire (Luke 3:16).

I. The disciples obeyed Jesus’ command and waited in Jerusalem for the Spirit of Jesus.

II. . Jesus sent His Spirit to the disciples at Pentecost with transformative and creative power.

B. The Spirit worked in a unique way on the day of Pentecost

I. Acts 2. 2: The Holy Ghost came upon the disciples as an impetuous wind, echoing the creative power of Genesis 1. 2.

II. . The Holy Spirit has corrected the dilemma created in the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11).

1. La humanity sought to subvert God’s dominion, so God confused his communication and scattered it across the surface of the earth.

2. The Holy Ghost brings a new community to what was previously divided.

II. . La list of nations provided by Luke in Acts shows that the Holy Ghost blessed all nations with the posterity of Abraham (Jesus).

Ⅳ. The Holy Ghost fulfills Joel 2’s prophecy and allows each Christian to access God through Jesus Christ.

v. As the mesianic king prophesied in Psalm 2, the Holy Spirit leads all nations before Jesus to bow in homage to him.
