[Reformanda] SINGLE SCRIPTURA: The Root of the Gospel (1)

Today’s evangelical churches are increasingly dominated by the spirit of this century rather than the Spirit of Christ. As evangelicals, we call ourselves to repent of this sin and to recover the historical Christian faith.

Throughout history, words change. At this time, this has happened with the word evangelical, in the past served as a link between Christians of a wide variety of ecclesiastical traditions, historical evangelism was denominational. He embraced the essential truths of Christianity as defined by the great ecumenical councils of the Church. In addition, evangelicals also shared a common heritage in the “suns” of the 16th-century Protestant Reformation.

  • Today.
  • The light of the Reformation has already faded considerably.
  • The consequence was that the gospel word was completed so much that it lost its meaning.
  • We are faced with the danger of losing the unity that took centuries to come true because of this crisis and our love for Christ.
  • His gospel and his church.
  • We seek to reaffirm our commitment to the central truths of reform and historical evangelism.
  • We affirm these truths.
  • Not because of their role in our traditions.
  • But because we believe they are at the heart of the Bible.

SOLA SCRIPTURA: the erosion of authority

Scripture alone is the rule inherent in the life of the Church, but today’s Evangelical Church has separated Scripture from its official role. In practice, the Church is sometimes too guided by culture. Therapeutic techniques, marketing strategies and the rhythm of culture. The entertainment world often has more to say about what the church wants, how it works, and what it offers than the Word of God. Pastors neglect the supervision of worship, which belongs to them, including the doctrinal content of music. abandoned in practice, its truths were weakened in the Christian consciousness, and its doctrines lost its importance, the church increasingly emptied of its integrity, moral authority and discernment.

Instead of adapting the Christian faith to meet the perceived needs of consumers, we must proclaim the Law as the only measure of true justice and the Gospel as the only proclamation of saving truth. Biblical truth is essential to the understanding, attention, and discipline of the Church.

Scripture must take us beyond our perceived needs to our real needs and free ourselves from the habit of seeing ourselves through seductive images, clichés, promises, and priorities of mass culture. It is only in the light of God’s truth that we understand each other correctly. and open our eyes to God’s character for our society. Therefore, the Bible must be taught and preached in the church. Sermons should be readings of the Bible and its teaching, not the expression of opinions or ideas of the time. We must accept no less than God has given us.

The work of the Holy Ghost in personal experience cannot be separated from the scriptures. The Spirit does not speak independently of the scriptures. Apart from the scriptures, we would never have known God’s grace in Christ. The Biblical Word, not spiritual experience, is the test of truth.

Thesis 1: Sola Scriptura

We reaffirm the infallible scriptures as the only source of divine revelation unique and written to boost consciousness. The Bible alone teaches all that is necessary for our salvation from sin, and is the standard by which all Christian behavior must be evaluated.

We decide that any creed, counsel, or individual can compel the conscience of a believer, that the Holy Ghost speaks regardless of what is exposed in or contradicts the Bible, or that personal experience can be a vehicle for revelation.
