Reform and Awaken (Ezra Message)

Israel’s history is incredible. God’s love for the covenant people is unprecedented in imagination or world literature. A God who chose a man, Abraham, and made him a great nation. It should always be remembered that Abraham could not have children with his wife Sara. Is he the son of promise born, was a miracle of the Lord necessary; and the miracle was called Isaac; Jacob descended from him, whose name was changed to Israel; and from him descended the twelve tribes of Israel.

Despite the many displays of love, care, and deliverance given by God, the people of Israel have always suspected their God, and in that mistrust, he ran after other gods who could bestow children, crops, and military victories upon them.

  • For this reason.
  • They created a separation between them and their God (as Isaiah prophesied).
  • Which caused the Assyrians to take the northern kingdom and the southern kingdom by the Babylonians.
  • Who suffered far from their land and away from the peace they enjoyed under God’s protection.
  • Now they were left with the consequences of their sins.

However, God will not cease to be faithful to the people of His covenant. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful; he cannot deny himself (2 Timothy 2:13). And, as Jeremiah prophesied (Jr 29:10), after 70 years, God brought them back to their country and to their lives!

The book of Ezra tells us about this period in Israel’s history, the time to return to what the Jews considered their lives. The story that is said in this little book is one of the most beloved by the people of Israel. The book is divided as follows:

Well, what were those sins? In chapter 9, Ezra tells us that the princes approached him and told him that many in Israel had married women who were not afraid of God; many women had married men without any fear or commitment to God; and the union between someone who fears God and someone who is not afraid has always been condemned by the scriptures.

In the face of this sin, Ezra cries loudly, leading many men and boys to gather around him; It was Secaniah who broke the cry of the scribe Ezra; and his words were a challenge to the people: we repented and returned our wives and husbands with all their sins, vices, and idolatry.

If you think it’s heavy, it may be because you still haven’t understood how heavy sin is, whatever it is, in God’s eyes. Leaving your spouses here wasn’t just a collective divorce, it was a recognition they should never have. disobeyed the Lord’s words, that they were willing to do anything to repair this terrible evil. Please note that nowhere in the Bible are we encouraged to divorce. God hates divorce, just as he hates dating/commitments/marriages between his children and people who don’t fear him, don’t like it and don’t serve him.

It is not for anyone who is strong enough to do so, it is for those who love him more than anything on this planet, only repentant people can forsake their sin, whatever the consequences.

Just as these people have done, God expects me to do it too. If you are a child of God, sin should not be embraced and kept in you. You must throw it out of your eyes and your heart. Fight sin. Hit him or will he knock on you, is sin at the door? But you must master it (Genesis 4. 7).

Run away from sin, seek holiness, otherwise you will never see the Lord!Peace continues with all and sanctification, without which no one will see the Lord (He 12:14) Sanctification brings peace, brings joy, brings rest to the soul. Don’t stop fighting to prevent sin from entering your life.

Israel’s history is a reminder of this danger. And the book of Ezra, a comfort to those who fight sin. The book of Ezra reminds us that it will always be time to seek reform and awakening in God’s people. The book of Ezra comforts and comforts us with the fact that God will never stop caring for those who belong to him, no matter how far these people have fled their God.
