The canticle of Psalm 23 written by Projeto Sola [i] spoke a lot in my heart. In fact, is this psalm one? Darling? In the Christian world.
And, in fact, it is a wonderful psalm that demonstrates the Lord’s concern for his people; inevitably, we are pleased to read it, decorate it, study it; we think of difficult times, both for ourselves and for others.
- But the chorus of this song has the following lyrics: “If the Lord is my shepherd.
- Which I don’t have.
- I don’t need it.
- “I hadn’t thought of it that way when I read it.
- A delicious and stimulating way at the same time.
Delicious, when we think we have a God who knows us deeply and knows what we need; is ubiquitous, omniscient and sovereign about our lives.
However, it is also a challenge, as it is our responsibility to sit down and consider how we act in our lives as a whole.
Some divergent secular theories and theories have often taken us away from our main goal.
Divergent theologies come bluntly, dividing the Christian medium into X and Y. There are those who raise the flag of error by showing how far they are from the truth and those who are wrong not to know the scriptures because it suits their idothers. Hearts.
Secular theories often occur in a subtle way, leading believers to fall into these mistakes without even realizing it.
Today, the theology of prosperity has surprised us, both aloud and subtly.
The pillars of this theology are based not only on wealth, but also on success and health.
Let’s look at these pillars from this sentence: what I don’t have, I don’t need:
Health: We must have perfect health, wonderful bodies, sculpted for hours in the gym.
On the financial issue, the cosmetics industry has created needs behind well-designed marketing, this tells us that we cannot age, creating wonderful (and very expensive) creams against the Word of God that shows us that being old is someone who must be respected and honored by his wisdom. I know women with beautiful skins who use simple sunscreen to avoid sunspots. Oh, and of course, it’s not just a product that we have to use, but several, each with a function. pencil, paper and investigates the monthly cost compared to sunscreen. It’s expensive, very expensive.
As far as academies are concerned, of course, we must take care of our bodies so that it is productive in order to continue serving the Lord, today we no longer exercise as we did in our daily tasks, so it takes time to exercise. the body. However, once again, marketing comes in creating needs in our lives, occasionally developing new modalities that reach exorbitant prices, if you talk to an honest physical educator it will tell you that they are often variations of a particular exercise. It’s not hard to find people who pay R$200. 00 up to 1 minimum wage for the gym, then move on to the other question:
Success: if our son’s one-year celebration doesn’t look like a wedding, we’re not happy, if we don’t have an expensive mobile phone, we don’t like it, if we don’t have a mobile international trip, getting to the beach that’s an hour’s home doesn’t satisfy us, it’s scary how the demand for things has increased and wanting to show others our possessions and successes , especially on social media. created the theology of the needs and prosperity we do even without thinking, even without having the money to do so.
On the children’s last day, my eight-year-old daughter asked, “Do you know what I want to receive as a gift?”I said, “what, my child, ” already imagining something I saw in an ad. The answer was, “I want a glass of here. “I tell this story to show that children are satisfied with the things that make them happy, often cost little or nothing. Are we worried about giving away a toy? Fantastic, it costs a thousand reais and we’ll pay for it ten times. After all, a hundred reais a month is almost nothing. That’s our reasoning, but the toy cost a thousand reais, a thousand! There are people who live with him to support a family for a month.
Wealth: This ruins our lives when we look at the things of this world and think: here is my wealth! And we forget that all this will be there when we enter eternity.
All these pillars are intimately linked. They walk together, by the arm.
We do things without thinking about why we do it
We want things without thinking why we want.
But, more importantly, have we asked the Lord what his will is, do we really want to know what God’s will is for our lives, because it may be different as our hearts desire. Knowing where you want us to work, what school, to place our children, where to travel during our holidays, how to make the best use of the money we are entrusted with.
We often live like the wicked, who know God’s existence, but prefer to pretend that God is not there and live life (and spend the money) as they please. It’s hard, but it’s true. We often ignore God when things go well economically, we don’t want to know the will of the one who knows everything!
And when this is not the case, we forget to rest in divine providence and despair.
The Lord knows everything we need. Everything, without exception
Finally, I want to leave the end of The Canticle of Psalm 23 of Project Sola, which says, “What I don’t have, I don’t need” to want it. “
