Christ, our Master? C. h. Spurgeon
It is nothing, my brethren, for the faithful servant of Jesus Christ that a certain dogma descend upon him with the gray antiquity of the centuries to make him venerable; as a sensitive man, the Christian respects antiquity, but as a subject faithful to his king. , does not bow to antiquity as if leaving her sovereign in Zion instead of living Christ. A multitude of good men can unite and may, in their view, present a dogma and declare that this dogma is essential and indisputable, and may even threaten those who do not receive their verdict; but if dogma was not allowed long before they decided, if it was not written in the Book, the decision of the legal counsel counts for nothing.

- “Who was Martin Luther? A servant of Jesus Christ.
- And nothing else.
- It’s not enough to say:? That’s what Jean Calvin teaches.
- Because who’s Jean Calvin.
- Has he spilled his blood for you?Or should your opinion be respected as your colleague’s opinion.
- But not as a competent doctor or a teacher in the church?Because only Christ is the Rabbi.
- And we are not.
- Call any man on earth Master.
