5. Give us our daily bread today.
You, O God, who has commanded us to seek your kingdom and your righteousness first, have also promised us that if we do, other things will be added to us (Mt 6:33): and therefore, having prayed for the sanctification of your name, for the coming of your kingdom, and for the fulfillment of your will, we pray now, heavenly Father: give us our daily bread today and day by day (Lk 11:3).
- Take away the lie and the lie; it does not give us poverty or wealth; Give us the bread we need; It is not to happen that when we become fed up.
- We deny you and say.
- Who is the Lord? or that.
- Impoverished.
- We steal and desecrate the name of God (Prov.
- 30: 8-9).
Lord, we do not ask for delicacies, for they are deceptive foods (Prov 23:3), nor do we pray to please ourselves every day, for we will not receive our goods in our lives (Lk 16:19, 25); But we pray for this bread that is necessary to sustain the strength of man (Salt 104:15). We don’t want bread earned with fraud (Pv 20. 17), drinking stolen water (Pv 9. 17), or eating laziness bread. (Pv 31. 27), but that, if it is your will, we can eat the work with our own hands (Ps 128. 2), working calmly and eating our own bread (2 Ts 3. 12); and having food and clothing to wear makes us happy (1 Tim 6:8) and says: we receive everything and have plenty (Phil. 4:18).
Bless our power, Eternal, and accept the work of our hands (Dt 33:11); and gives us resources to take care of ourselves and especially those in our own home (1 Timothy 5. 8), and to leave the inheritance, as far as possible, to the children of our children (Prov. 13:22). The grace of the Lord our God be upon us; confirms the work of our hands upon us, yes, it confirms the work of our hands (Salt 90:17). Bless, Lord, our land in its fullness; But above all we have the benevolence of the one who appeared in the bush, including the blessings that fell upon Joseph’s head, upon the prince’s head among his brethren (Dt 33:13,16).
But if the fig tree does not bloom and there is no fruit in the vine; If the olive product is found and the fields do not produce food; if the sheep are plucked from the fold and there is no cattle in the corrals, yet let us have the grace to rejoice in the Lord and rejoice in the God of our salvation (Hc 3:17-18).
Father, we are not asking for bread for a very distant moment to come, but we ask that we may have our daily bread; because we learn (please, Lord, show us) not to worry about tomorrow, what we will eat, what we will drink, or what we will clothe ourselves, but we will care about you, Heavenly Father, who knows that we need all these things, that sustain the birds of heaven, even if they do not sow or harvest, and that much more will sustain us (Mt 6:31-32,26), for us who are worth much more than many sparrows (Mt 10:31).
We pray not only for the bread of every day for us, but also for others: O full of bread to your poor (Ps 132:15). May all who walk in righteousness and speak up, that the strengths of the rocks may be their great refuge, that their bread may be given to them, that their waters may be safe (Is 33:15-16).
