Praying for awakening in your church

We live in a world that needs renewal. What is rebirth? It is a powerful movement of the Spirit of God to convert many people to Christ and renew in the church zeal for truth, spiritual growth and mission. When only two men? Paul and Silas? They prayed, the earth shook (Acts 16: 25-26). This guide exists to guide you in your awakening prayers. Imagine what would happen if we joined in fervent prayer for an extraordinary movement of the Holy Spirit today.

To use this guide, find the page that corresponds to the current week. Each week of the month emphasizes a different prayer group, starting with you and your family and expanding communities. This guide is designed to be used in any year, so each month has four weeks instead of specific dates. There is also room for personal notes.

  • We hope this guide will encourage you this year and next.
  • Join us as we wait for the Lord.
  • Recognizing that He has kindly promised to listen to us and trusting that He will respond to us according to his will.

In the book Prayer Changes Things, the third in the Crucial Questions series, Sproul provides an overview of the purpose of prayer in Christian life. In a pleasant conversation with the reader, he explains why to pray and guides us in his practice, through biblical quotations. According to Sproul, while we should not expect our prayers to change God’s mind to act against his will, we can be sure that prayer changes things, including our hearts.
