There was a time during this pandemic when I lacked words to pray, a change in my soul, suffocated by uncertainties, took over my prayer processor, I did not kill myself.
Anguished by the lack of voice, I went to the psalms for help, I found relief in the words of other anguished and dizzy souls, words that I could not find in my prayer drawer.
- The psalms awoke a prospector look throughout Scripture where I found the wisdom of truth and filled many drawers with prayer boxes of David.
- Daniel.
- Paul.
- And Jesus.
- Among many others who left us inspiration and teaching to shape our prayers to the Word.
- Jesus.
An exercise in pious life is prayer, I want to invite you to walk a mile with me on this path and learn to draw our prayers from the good treasure of the word of God.
You and I must conform every day to the word of God, because we are constantly influenced by the world and forget the glorious gospel. If we have been bought by the precious blood of Jesus, then we are no longer slaves to our sinful desires. , but we belong to the Lord, the High Priest of our eternal soul, and in him we move and live according to his perfect image, so every day we seek the Word of God and grow in holiness and persevere along the way. The Spirit of God teaches us, makes us grow in grace and virtue, and makes us fit for all the practices of pious life. Full of truth, we are guided by the Holy Ghost to open our mouths and utter words of life in prayer.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and useful to teach, to rebuke, to correct, to educate in righteousness, so that the man of God may be perfect and perfectly qualified for every good work. 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
Today I want to share 4 models of prayer that I moved to the scriptures to practice praying with the Bible because the Lord said that whatever they ask in the name of Jesus, he would do it.
“And all that ye ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything on my behalf, I will. If you love me, will you keep my commandments?John 14: 13-15
The point of this is that when you are saturated by the truth of the word of God, everything you ask will be consistent with that truth, Jesus is the truth, so what you ask will be consistent with what Jesus teaches, you will agree with the will of the Lord Himself, His will will be your will.
Thanksgiving prayer is the blessed prayer we offer to share our gratitude with the Lord, it is a prayer full of praise, when we express the music that our hearts sing, it is the new song that comes out of the lips that profess your name.
Let us borrow a prayer from Paul in his letter to the Colossus, in this introduction to the letter, he gratefully recognizes the faith and love of his brethren in the church of Colossus, whom he did not even know. Paul says he prayed for them as a thank you.
“We always thank God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Jesus Christ and your love for all saints; by the hope that is kept in heaven, which you have already heard from the word of the truth of the gospel that has come to you; Moreover, throughout the world, it bears fruit and grows, as it has been among you since the day you heard and understood God’s grace in truth. ; as Epafras, our beloved companion, instructed you, a faithful minister of Christ, who also told us about your love in the Spirit. Coloss us 1. 3-8
The prayer of petition is the prayer we say most often; is when we ask, we pray to God for something we need or for certain circumstances that we want to change.
Therefore, we too, from the day we listen to you, have not stopped praying for you and asking you to overflow with the full knowledge of your will, with all spiritual wisdom and understanding; to live in a way worthy of the Lord, to his complete satisfaction, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the full knowledge of God; be fortified with all power, according to the strength of its glory, with perseverance and long life; with joy, thanking the Father, who made you worthy of the part that corresponds to you in the inheritance of the saints in the light. Colossses 1. 9-12
Intercession Prayer: When we place for someone
Let us remember how Jesus interceded for us.
“It is for them that I pray; I pray not for the world, but for those you gave me, for they are yours; Well, all my things are yours and yours are mine; and in them I am glorified. I’m no longer in the world, but they’re still in the world, while I come to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, so that they may be one, like us. When I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you gave me, and protected them, and none of them were lost except the son of perdition, that Scripture would be fulfilled. But now I come to you and tell this to the world so that they fully enjoy themselves. I gave you your word and the world gave them, because they are not of the world, like me. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to protect them from harm. They’re not from the world, like me. Sanctifie them in truth; your word is the truth. John 17: 9-17
The prayer of confession of sins is this prayer of repentance, when we bear before the Lord, with a contrite heart our mistakes and sins, and ask Him to forgive us.
In John’s first letter, we read that if we confess our sins, he, Jesus, is faithful and just to forgive us. You don’t have to take the blame, you must confess your sins and make sure you’ve been forgiven and cleansed. of evil.
We see in the Old Testament the confession of the prophet Daniel for the sins of all God’s people.
“I prayed to the Lord, my God, I confessed and I said: ah! Sir! Great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy with those who love you and keep your commandments; we have sinned and done iniquities, we have done evil and we have been rebellious, departing from your commandments and your judgments; and we did not listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, to our princes and to our fathers, and to all the peoples of the earth. Justice is yours, Lord, but ours, flushed with shame, as we see today; to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to all Israel, near and far, to all the countries where you drove them, because of their rebellions against you. O Lord, the redness of shame is ours, our kings, our princes and our fathers, because we have sinned against you. Mercy and forgiveness belong to the Lord our God, because we rebelled against him and did not obey the voice of the Lord our God to walk in his laws, which he gave us through his servants the prophets. . Yes, all Israel transgressed your law, turning away not to obey your voice; therefore the curse and curses that are written in the law of Moses, God’s servant, were poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. Daniel 9: 4-11
The more we are imbued with the Word of God, the more we will be molded to the will of God, who by His Holy Spirit perfects us to pray.
Go ahead, sheep, pray constantly!
