October 6th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: Whoever drinks from the water I give him will never thirst (John 4. 14).

The believer in Jesus thinks enough of his Lord to satisfy him now and keep him happy for the rest of his life and forever. The believer is not a person whose days are spent seeking comfort and whose nights are slow to pass for lack of comforting thoughts. The believer finds in Christ a source of joy and a foundation of comfort so abundant that it makes him glad and glad. Put the believer in jail and he will find good company there. Put it in a desert, and there the believer will eat bread from heaven. Deprive him of friends and he will find them? Closer friend than a brother? (Proverbs 18:24). Remove the foundation from the earthly hopes of the believer, and his heart will always stand firm, trusting in the Lord. The heart is as insatiable as the grave, until the Lord Jesus enters it and makes it a brimming cup. In Christ there is fullness of abundance; He alone is everything to the believer. The true believer is so satisfied with the full sufficiency of Christ that he is no longer thirsty except for larger sips from the Living Fountain. In this gentle way, believing, you will be thirsty. It will not be a painful thirst, but a will to love; You will find it good to aspire to a fuller joy in the love of Jesus. Someone once said, “I have often dipped my bucket in the well, but now my thirst for Jesus has become so insatiable that I want to bring the well itself to my lips and drink from it. ” Dear reader, is this feeling in your heart? Do you believe that all your desires are fulfilled in Christ and that you have no other need than to know him more and have a closer relationship with him? So constantly come to the fountain and drink the water of life for free (Revelation 22:17). Jesus will never think that you have drunk too much, but he will always welcome you by saying, “Drink, yes, drink plenty, dear ones. “
