Justice will be done
Verse of the day: Beloved, do not a venge, but yield to anger; because it says: revenge belongs to me; I will pay, said the Lord (Romans 12:19).
- You’ve all been aggrieved at one time or another.
- Most of you have probably been seriously harmed by someone who never apologized or did enough to remedy it.
And is this one of the deepest obstacles to letting go of the conviction of pain and bitterness?justified belief? that justice must be done and that the course of the universe will show that people can escape with horrible mistakes and deceive everyone.
This is one of the obstacles to forgiveness and abandonment of grudges, not the only one. We must face our own sin, but it is a real obstacle.
We believe that ignoring it would amount to admitting that justice will simply not be done, and we cannot do that.
Thus, we cling to anger and repeat history several times with the feeling that this should not have happened; it shouldn’t have happened; It was wrong; it was wrong. How can he be so happy now, when I’m so miserable?That’s so wrong!
This word in Romans 12:19 was given to you by God to get rid of your burdens.
But do you give in to anger?
Abandon the burden of anger, abandon the practice of feeding your pain with the feeling of being hurt, abandoning all this, that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a big mistake against you.
That doesn’t mean there’s no justice, that doesn’t mean you won’t be justified, that doesn’t mean they escaped.
This means that when you abandon the burden of vengeance, God will take that burden.
This is not an easy way to get revenge, it’s a way to get back at who it belongs to.
It’s taking a deep breath, maybe for the first time in decades, and feeling that now, finally, you can be free to love.
