October 21st? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: the love of Christ compels us. (2 Corinthians 5. 14)

How much do you owe my Lord? How much has it done for you? Have you forgiven your sins? Has he clothed you in a robe of righteousness? Have you set foot on the rock? Have you established your paths? Have you prepared paradise for yourself? Have you prepared for paradise? Did you write your name in the Book of Life? Has Jesus given you countless blessings? Has he built up for you a reservoir of mercy that eyes did not see and ears did not hear (see 1 Corinthians 2: 9)? Then do something worthy of Jesus’ love for Jesus. Do not give the deceased Redeemer a mere verbal offer. How will you feel when your Lord comes and you have to confess that you have done nothing for him, except keep your love closed, like a stagnant well, without spilling it for the poor and their work? ? Keep that kind of love away! What do men think of a love that is not expressed in actions? Now they say: “Is an open reprimand better than a hidden love?” (Proverbs 27. 5). Who will accept a love so weak that it does not push you to a small act of renunciation, generosity, altruism or zeal? Think about how he loved you so much that he gave himself for you! Do you know the power of this love? So let it be, to your soul, like a strong and mighty wind that lifts the clouds of your worldliness and dispels the fog of your sin. What words:? For the love of Christ? be the tongue of fire that will rest on you. May they be the divine ecstasy, the heavenly inspiration to lift you up from the earth, the divine Spirit that will make you bold as a lion and intelligent as an eagle, in the service of your Lord. Love should give wings to the feet that serve the Lord and strength to the arms that work for him. With our eyes fixed on God, with unwavering perseverance, determined to honor Him with the determination not to go astray and to carry on with an ardor that will never tire, let us manifest the limitations of the Lord’s love. May He take us to heaven.
