October 20th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the Day: Let us grow in all that is the head, Christ (Ephesians 4. 15).

Many believers remain behind and behind in spiritual things in a way that shows the same appearance year after year. Advanced and refined feelings are not manifested in them. They exist but they don’t grow in the head at all, Christ. However, should we be happy to be on the green leaf when we can walk to the cob and eventually to the ripe kernel of the cob? Should we be content to believe in Christ and say, “I am sure,” without wanting to know more in our experience of the fullness that we can find in Him? It shouldn’t happen. As good merchants in the heavenly market, we should strive to enrich ourselves with the knowledge of Jesus. It’s great to preserve other people’s vineyards, but we can’t neglect our own spiritual growth and maturity. Why does it always have to be winter in our hearts? It is true that we must have our time to sow, but oh! that we also have spring and summer, which promises us an early harvest! If we want to mature in grace, we must live very close to Jesus, in his presence, mature in the light of his smiles. We must maintain sweet fellowship with him, draw close to Jesus, as the apostle John did, and put our heads in his bosom. So are we going to move forward in holiness, love, faith, and hope? yes, in all the precious gifts. Just as the sun rises mainly high up in the mountains, enveloping them with light and offering one of the most charming views to the traveler; Therefore, it is one of the most pleasant contemplations to observe the splendor of the light of the Holy Spirit on the head of a believer who has grown in spiritual stature. Like the vast snow-capped Alps, it reflects the rays of light from the Sun of Justice, mainly among the chosen ones. Then pour out the radiance of the resplendent glory of Christ for all to see and see, giving glory to the Father who is in heaven.
