Verse of the day: Who can endure the day of his coming?(Malachie 3. 2)

The first coming of Jesus occurred without any visible pomp or display of power. But, in fact, few could withstand the testing power of this coming. Herod and all of Jerusalem were touched by the news of the wonderful birth. Those who thought they were waiting for the Messiah demonstrated the error of their confession by rejecting him when he came. His life on earth was a sieve, putting the great body of religious profession to the test, and few endured the process. But what will the second coming of Christ be? What sinner can bear the thoughts of this coming? Will he strike the earth with the rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips kill the wicked? (Isaiah 11. 4). When, in His humiliation, the only words of Jesus to the soldiers were: “Is it me?” They recoiled and fell to the ground (see John 18: 5,6). What terror will your enemies be when He reveals Himself more fully as the “I Am”? The death of Jesus shook the earth and filled the sky with darkness. What will be the terrible splendor of that day when, as the living Lord, He called the living and the dead to appear before Him? Although Jesus is the Lamb, he is also the Lion of the tribe of Judah (see Revelation 5. 5) who defeats their enemies. Although he does not crush the broken reed (see Isaiah 42. 3), he will destroy his enemies with an iron rod and smash them like a clay pot (see Psalm 2. 9). But the dear people of Christ, washed in his blood, await his manifestation with joy and hope, to bear witness without fear. Let us examine today and confirm our vocation and our choice, so that the coming of the Lord does not produce any dark omen in our minds. Oh! May we have the grace to abandon all hypocrisy and be found sincere and innocent on the day of Christ’s manifestation!
