The end of the story
Verse of the Day: These will suffer the pain of eternal destruction, banished from the face of the Lord and the glory of his power, when he comes to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired by all who believed that day (for ours was believed among you) a testimony) (2 Thessalonians 1. 9-10)
Paul describes the Second Coming of Christ as hope and terror
Jesus Christ returns not only to bring the final salvation of His people, but so that by his salvation he may be “glorified in his saints and admired by all who have believed”.
A decisive commentary on the climax of history, while John describes the New Jerusalem, the glorified church, is found in Revelation 21. 23: “The city needs neither the sun nor the moon to give it clarity, because the glory of God has enlightened it, and the Lamb is your lamp?
God the Father and God the Son are the light in which Christians will live their eternity.
It is the realization of God’s goal throughout history: to reveal his glory so that everyone can see and praise it. The Son’s prayer confirms the Last Goal of the Father: “Father, my will is that where I am, those who have given me, stay with me too, that they may see the glory which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world (John 17:24).
We can conclude that God’s primary purpose is to glorify him and enjoy him forever, he is supreme at the center of his own affections, so he is a source of self-sufficient and inexhaustible grace.
