Verse of the day: I will pour water upon thirst (Isaiah 44:3).
When the believer enters a state of poverty and unhappiness in his emotions, he often tries to get out of it by punishing himself with dark and painful fears. This is not the way a believer will come out of the dust, but will continue in it. At the beginning of the Christian life, it was not the law but the Gospel that saved the thirsty soul; therefore, it is not slavery to the law but the freedom of the gospel that can revive the fallen believer. It is not fear that returns the prostrate believer to God, but the processions of love that captivate him to draw closer to Jesus. Do you thirst for the living God? Are you sad that you can’t find it as your soul’s delight? Have you lost the joy of your faith? Here is his prayer: “Give me back the joy of your salvation?” (Psalm 51. 12)? Are you also aware that you are barren as dry land and that you are not producing fruit for God (see Romans 7:24), the fruit that He expects of you? Are you also aware that you are not as useful in church or in the world as your heart desires to be? So this promise is the promise you need: “I will pour water on thirst. ” You will receive the grace that you need so much. And you will receive it according to your needs. Water quenches thirst – you will refresh yourself and your desires will be satisfied. Water renews the latent life of a plant. Your life will be renewed and refreshed by a new measure of grace. The water makes the buds grow and the fruits ripen. You will be fruitful in the ways of God. There are good qualities in God’s grace and you will fully enjoy them. All the riches of divine grace will be yours in abundance. Like the plant mentioned above, you will be awash in grace. As fields sometimes flood with overflowing rivers and fields turn into pools, so will you; the thirsty land will become springs of water.
