Verse of the day: I, the Lord, do not change (Malachi 3. 6).
It is good for us that in the midst of all the instability of life there is someone who cannot be affected by changes. Someone whose heart never changes and whose face has no wrinkles. All other things have changed. The sun itself, over the centuries, has diminished in splendor. The world is getting old. The packaging of the used dresses has already started. The earth and the heavens will soon have to pass away. They will perish and grow old, like clothing, but there is Someone who has immortality, whose years are infinite and in whose person there is no change. The sailor rejoices when, after several days at sea, he walks on dry land again. It sounds like the satisfaction of a believer who, in the midst of all the changes in this hectic life, trusts in this truth: “I, the Lord, do not change. ” The stability that the ship possesses when it finally reaches port is like that which gives hope to the believer when he fixes on this glorious truth. In God, can there be no variation or shadow of change? (James 1,17). The attributes of God in the past are the same today. His power, his wisdom, his justice and his truth are immutable. He has always been the refuge and strength of his people in the day of tribulation (see Nahum 1. 7). God is always the sure helper of his servants. He is unchanging in his love. Did God love his people with an everlasting love? (Jeremiah 31,3). He loves you now with as much love as He has always loved you. When all earthly things are over, in the last conflict, will his love still carry the dew of your youth? (Psalm 110. 3 ARC). Precious is the certainty that God does not change! The wheel of providence turns, but its axis is eternal love. Death and change are always busy, man grows weak and age advances; But God’s mercy is present; And your wisdom and love still reach us!
